Exchanges are the organisationa$ nits of the CES/ Each exchange is a %iscrete
tra%ing nit operating in%epen%ent$! of other exchanges/ The CES is a network of
%iscrete exchanges aron% the wor$%/ What $inks them is the se of the CES
software) which a$$ows inter'exchange tra%ing/ Each exchange has its own separate
%atabase bt what a$$ share is the same software interface accessib$e throgh the
internet/
Each exchange has its own name) its own crrenc!) its own sers) its own po$icies)
its own r$es an% reg$ations an%) sa$$!) its own news$etters an% insignia/ A$$ CES
exchanges) however) operate within the overa$$ framework of the CES an% are
re,ire% to comp$! with CES reg$ations with regar% to inter'tra%ing an% g$oba$
monetar! po$icies/
An exchange can operate in <stan%'a$one< mo%e) meaning that it has no $inks to other
exchanges whatsoever/ However it is more sa$ for exchanges to operate in
<network< mo%e/ This means that the tra%ers of one exchange can tra%e with those of

exchanges/

Account Types
The CES has six accont t!pes) often referre% to as <membership t!pes<B in%ivi%a$)

Most sers of the CES have In)i1i)ual accounts/ Sch acconts are in the name of
a sing$e in%ivi%a$ an% the name% person is he$% responsib$e for the accont/
Share) accounts are Aoint acconts se% b! a nmber of peop$e) sa$$! members
of a fami$!/ Most often a Share% accont is in the name of a cop$e bt it co$% be in
the name of the fami$! or in the name of one person in the fami$!/ The CES %oes not
%efine a fami$! bt those name% in the accont profi$e are co$$ective$! he$%
responsib$e for the accont/
An Organisation account is an accont for organisations/ The CES %oes not %efine
an organisation bt it is an! co$$ective that is not profit'prsing) that %oes not
provi%e pro%cts for sa$e an% is essentia$$! service oriente%/ The accont is in the
name of the organisation with a name% contact person/ The <management< of the
organisation is he$% responsib$e for the accont/
A Company account is for companies/ The CES %oes not %efine a compan! bt it is
an entit! that is essentia$$! profit'prsing an% exp$icit$! provi%ing pro%cts or
services for sa$e/ The accont is in the name of the compan! with a name% contact
person/
0ublic accounts are $ike 2rganisation acconts except that the f$$ statement of
accont is visib$e to sers/ *b$ic acconts are for entities that nee% to operate
transparent$!/ Usa$$! sch acconts are re$ate% to the A%ministration accont 8e/g/ a
market accont9 an% show their statements so that sers can be sre that <pb$ic
mone!< is not being mis'spent/
A)ministrator accounts are a specia$ accont t!pe that gives those %esignate%
access to the f$$ a%ministrative interface/ Usa$$! there is on$! one A%ministrator
accont an% this is accont nmber <FFFF</ This <nmber 0ero< accont is %ifferent
from a$$ other acconts in that the $evies that accm$ate in the specia$ <Treasr!
