Academic integrity is described as the prevalence of honesty in all
academic matters. Violation of academic integrity - in other words, academic dishonesty commonly manifests as cheating in examinations or committing plagiarism and forgery, resulting in the student not acquiring the expected knowledge. Therefore, in order to explore the status of academic integrity, the extent of academic dishonesty needed to be established Cheating is one of the ethical issues which we have chosen. It is defined as presenting someone elses work as your own. Cheating also refers to an immoral way of achieving a goal, such as cheating in exam. It is generally used for the breaking of rules to gain unfair advantage in a competitive situation. With regards to students behavior, cheating is very rampant in todays generation as compared in the past. Cheating at school is often a group effort, with one student collecting answers from a test and passing them on to friends within a group. Students are often able to memorize only the answers in a short amount of time prior to class, though some invent ways to write the answers in code on a hand or concealed piece of paper. Students are tempted to cheat because of the gadgets which can provide them answer by just one click on it. They may simply point and click their way to site, swipe and paste it, reformatting it somewhat and its yours. Theres an old saying that states ignorance of the law is no excuse, and when it comes to cheating, that old saying holds up. If you cheat, even by accident, youre risking your academic career. Everyone knows what happen to someone when they get caught cheating, but what are the long term implications of not getting caught? Who is affected? This research is conceived to study the bad side of students who are fun of doing academic dishonesty. They're just good people who are put in bad situation. But if its doing very often, it could bring serious consequences.

III. Hypotheses This study aimed at studying the students cheating behaviors in general and to find the effects of some important variables such as gender, parental pressure and unpreparedness. There are three hypotheses that this study tried to test: Research hypotheses 1: Males have a higher tendency for cheating than females. Research hypotheses 2: Teachers and parental pressure causes the students to cheat. Research hypotheses 3: Lack of preparation for an assignment, quiz or exam increases the chances of cheating.
IV. Significance of the Study This study meets the needs for contextually relevant research into the academic integrity. Existence of academic dishonesty among students was demonstrated. As such, the study increases awareness around the problem and highlights the needs to reduce academic dishonesty where academic integrity is highly valued and this must be done so that, ultimately, these students will developed and be a professional for the future. The study also suggests contextually relevant interventions to address academic dishonesty, thus enhancing academic integrity and explore recommendations regarding prevention and consequence of cheating.
V. Scope and Delimitation This study explores the attitudes and behaviors of College towards academic dishonesty. This Research is consists of a formal literature review, a questionnaire, and interviews with some students from Cagayan State University from different colleges and some teachers as well. After analyzing the issue of academic dishonesty in each phase of research, the study discusses possible methods on how to prevent academic dishonesty. This study does not cover the techniques or ways of cheating because this might be a cause to a student to cheat and also irrational.
VI. Definition of Terms Academic dishonesty: the act of engaging in behavior in which a student borrows an assignment to copy from another student, copies off of an exam, or obtains assignments and/or exams from previous semesters. It also includes engaging in behavior where one would write answers anywhere on the body, clothing, desk, or paper in order to advance oneself on an exam. Academic dishonesty is commonly referred to as cheating throughout this literature review. Academic integrity: abiding by the rules established in the school and not engaging dishonestly academically. It also includes reporting when knowing of other peers engaging in academic dishonesty.
