To start the internship, we were interviewed by one of our possible supervisor, Mr. Noel Anonas. He asked each of us to introduce ourselves and the skills that we are good at. The interview ended before lunch break.
Day 2 April 08, 2014 We were tasked to network the computer in our designated office/room. This is to allow us to have access in the internet of the Asia Pacific College since our job needed internet connection. This task was assigned to us by Mr. Ernesto Boogie Boydon.
Day 3 April 09, 2014 Another possible supervisor has conducted an interview to us. It was the chairman of Pinoymovers, Mr. Junie Caringal and the president of Pinoymovers, Mr. Ody dela Merced. They conducted a one on one interview. The interview ended before lunch break.
Day 4 April 10, 2014 Mr. Ernesto Boydon gave us the task to list all existing the application software of each computer in the office. This provides back up list of the software in case some programs in the computer fail to work.
Day 5 April 11, 2014 Mr. Ernesto Boydon gave us the access to his e-learning portal system which contains lessons on learning the content management system which is Joomla!. We were told to study the basics of Joomla!. At first we had the problem on accessing the learning system because of wrong password but then Mr. Boydon gave us the correct password and start studying the lessons.
Week 2 Day 1 to 3 April 14 to 16, 2014 Since the school is closed because of the holy week, we spent our time in our house studying Joomla. This is for the preparations for future projects that will be assigned by our supervisor. During this period, we study lessons 1 to 8.
Day 4 April 17, 2014 As assigned by one of our supervisor, we need to come up with a certain topic for a computer application. We spent the day brainstorming for a good topic. Eventually we came up with a theme about a ninja. This will be the main character of the game.
Day 5 April 18, 2014 After brainstorming and, we need to create a storyline for the computer application. This is a task assigned by Mr. Noel Anonas. Along with this, creating characters is also included.
Week 3 Day 1 April 21, 2014 Since we dont have a permanent supervisor this time, we were grouped this day. As a result, we were assigned to Pinoymovers group. I was assigned as the system developer. I will be the one who will develop the website of the group.
Day 2 April 22, 2014 To be able to develop the website of Pinoymovers, I need to study joomla environment thoroughly. Again, I started from lesson 1 to the end. This is to ensure that I can do/ perform my duty as the system developer properly.
Day 3 April 23, 2014 We were given the task to analyze the existing website of Pinoymovers. In this analysis, we should list the functionality that does not benefit the website. We also list some suggestions on how to improve the website. Day 4 April 24, 2014 Today, our team was given the access to the sandbox of the Pinoymovers. This is the second version of the site. We were to analyze again this sandbox and list suggestions for the improvement of this site.
Day 5 April 25, 2014 During this day, we were given the access to the cPanel of the site. This cPanel is the control panel of the website. We learned new environment this day. We learned how access this cPanel and learned how to manage files inside it.
Week 4 Day 1 April 28, 2014 To increase the views of the site and to let the others know the existence of the website, we were asked to populate the members of the Pinoymovers group in Facebook. We invited friends in the group.
Day 2 April 29, 2014 I started creating a local copy of the website that I need to modify. This is the sandbox website of Pinoymovers. This is the start of editing process of the website.
Day 3 April 30, 2014 We spent the whole day testing the functionality of links and modules the local copy of the website. We then analyzed and list working and non working features of this site.
Day 4 May 1 , 2014 Holiday
Day 5 May 2, 2014 During this day, I made a list of non working features of the sandbox website. This list will be my guide in the editing process. Week 5 Day 1 to 2 May 5 to 6, 2014 I started editing the local copy of the website specifically the banner of the website. I followed what was told during the meeting with our supervisor.
Day 3 to 4 May 7 to 8, 2014 I edited the settings and appearance of the template of the website. It is needed so that the website will be visible to the users the way I edited the site.
Day 5 May 9, 2014 I started editing the advertisement module of the website. I asked Dianne to edit the images that will be used in creating the advertisement. Even though the work is easy, I cant continue without the images.
Week 6 Day 1 May 12, 2014 During this day, I worked on linking existing menus and articles of the site. At first, I was unable to do the task but eventually learned with the help of the internet. I learned that I must explore more to fully understand joomla.
Day 2 May 13, 2014 All of us were asked by Mr. Ernesto Boydon to assist him in his seminar about web development, and of course, it was about joomla and joomla environment. It was a great feeling teaching those participants and sharing what we just learned from Mr. Boydon.
Day 3 May 14, 2014 I continued working on linking existing menus and articles of the site. This time, I finished every links. It is working all together. Every links function properly.
Day 4 May 15, 2014 I was asked by the president of Pinoymovers to have a link in the website the links of those with relation to government sites. This is to help users navigate easily and have the ease of information access.
Day 5 May 16, 2014 I continued working on the advertisement module of the website. The board is not satisfied with the arrangement of the advertisement so I edited the advertisement once again. It is good to have feedback to the users. With this, I can improve my work.
Week 7
Day 1 May 19, 2014 I edited the contents of the FAQ of the website. The chairman of the Pinoymovers gave me the copy of the FAQ that will be inputted in the website. I explored menus and articles of the site and eventually found the articles of the FAQ.
Day 2 May 20, 2014 Other related sites like PAGASA, MMDA and other government sites related with weather and travel were asked by the board to link it to the site. I finished it all within this day. It is much easier working when you know what you are doing.
Day 3 May 21, 2014 I removed non-working links and unnecessary articles in the site. It was asked y the chairman of Pinoymovers so that the users will not be confused of the links.
Day 4 May 22, 2014 I was asked to copy the contact us page in Pinoymovers.tk. I was able to finish the work within the day but unable to test its functionality because of the email functions.
Day 5 May 23, 2014 After all the editing and managing of existing menus and links, our group run a test about the functionality of the system from scratch. Some bugs and errors were found. Even though I was a little disappointed with the result, I was happy at the same time because it helped me improved my work.
Week 8 Day 1 May 26, 2014 I edit joomla database of the website specifically browse directory. I edited its layout, its catalog view, print layout view and form template view. It turned out to be a success when the board approved what I did.
Day 2 May 27, 2014 I edit the other joomla database of the website which is the Trip schedule. Like what I did in the previous one, I edited its layout, its catalog view, print layout view and form template view. The board also approved this one.
Day 3 May 29, 2014 Our group tests the overall functionality of the system. This is the last time since this is the end of our internship. I edit the blog and after that, we transmitted the copy to Mr. Boydon as asked by the chairman. End of our contract.
