Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanks to ALL the great volunteers who made the
Thanksgiving dinner such a success!
We enjoyed delicious food, great fellowship and live music
at our first ever Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, November
26 in our Fellowship Hall. There were approximately 230 in at-
tendance, with about 60 Iraqis, 50 international students, 75 FFC
members serving and eating, as well as other guests.
Cary and Tammy Claiborne and Jeff and Julie Holt organized
the food and volunteers, Dan and Amy Stout invited and trans-
ported the international students, Rhonda McCourt encouraged
the Iraqis to come, Paul and Kari Nilles helped with some of the
other organization, and Heidi Nelson produced the DVD giving
the history of Thanksgiving. There were also good contacts made
that will be followed up with 26 food boxes being delivered to
some of the families.

Trust your children to the care of our dedicated, loving

Children’s Ministry staff. Our children’s programs provide qual-
ity care and learning for kids of all ages.
If your child has not already been enrolled in our Children’s
Ministry, a quick visit to the Children’s Ministry Registration
Station will provide you with temporary security tags and give us
the information we need to effectively minister to your child.
Infants & Preschool Children
Childcare and teaching are available during the 9:10 and 10:45 hour in the Nursery
and Preschool Departments.
Kindergarten–4th Grade
During the 9:10 hour, K–4th graders gather in the gym and then go to graded
classroom groups for Bible learning and fun.
K–4th graders attend their own age-appropriate children’s church, called KZ
Church, in room 152 at 10:45.
Xtreme AM (5th & 6th Grade)
Our preteens meet in their own Xtreme spot, Room 205, at 9:10 for a time of Xtreme
learning, Xtreme prayer and Xtreme relationship-building.
Youth (Grade 7–12) & Adults
Groups for ADULTS begin at 9:10AM and 10:45AM. Stop by the Welcome
Center (or see inside today’s newspaper) to find out about each of the groups and
how to get there.
Our YOUTH (Grade 7–12) meet at 9:10AM in the Backdoor (148).
Cellular Phones & Pagers
Thank you for turning off or muting your cell phone, pager and other electronic
devices during this morning’s worship service.
Assistive Listening Devices
ALS devices are available for check-out at the Resource Center in the foyer.
AED (Automated External Defibrillator)/First-aid
Facilities for guests needing first aid, health counseling, and blood
pressure checks are provided by our Parish Nurses located in the
west hallway in Room 1117, Sundays, 10:30AM–Noon.
Please contact an usher if you need immediate assistance.
Lost and Found
Lost items may be reported or claimed at the business office of the church during
regular M-F office hours. Lost and found items are kept for 30 days.

First Federated Church regards your safety as our highest priority. If you have any
concerns, please inform one of our ushers or staff. If a building emergency arises,
directions will be provided over the public address system.

CD recordings of the morning message can be picked up immediately following the

Communion
We celebrate communion typically on a bi-monthly basis during the morning
worship service or special event. We have an open table, meaning that if you have
put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, you are welcome to participate. Gluten-
free communon wafers are available upon request.

 MISSION ONE Reaching others for Jesus Christ
Santiago & Yolanda Pascual
Mission Board:
Segadores (Reapers)
Location: Lima, Peru
What do they do? Santiago
and Yolanda are nation-
als, living in the jungles,
serving with Peter and
Marta Hocking. San-
tiago and his family are
members of the Yanesha
tribe. They live in the
Palcazu valley caring for
land Segadores owns for
missionary training programs. Santiago is a church planter/
Bible teacher and helps organize regional Bible conferences.
He also visits and strengthens the ten churches he planted
there years ago.
Prayer Requests:
• For the Lord’s enablement to form healthy churches in the
valley.
• For health and strength to continue in Christ’s service--a
gun accident rendered him unable to farm or hunt. Believers
there help out.
• For raising 3 orphaned grandchildren for the Lord.
• For much needed funds for eye treatment for their daughter
Dina to travel to Lima for surgery. She is blind due to being
too poor to afford medical treatment.
• For God’s protection during frequent travels in the jungle.
Tim & Iris, Two Sons
Location: Asia
What do they do? Their desire is to make known clearly the
truth of Jesus Christ to every ethnic group in their frigid area
of the world. As a team they are involved in recording and
editing messages of salvation in the heart language of 32
ethnic groups. The recordings are distributed by partnering
with national churches, missionaries and others. They also
work to train national missionaries to serve in their area.
Praises:
• For the recent recording of 20+ hours of material among a
“throat singing” people group. (The singer manipulates the air
as it flows from the lungs and out the lips to produce a melody.)
Prayer Requests:
• For the editing of these recordings.
• For finishing construction of the office.
• For much needed heating system in their house—there are
freezing temperatures at night. Heating is vital in their part
of the world.
• For the challenges of endurance and faith, of sacrifice and joy.
First Federated Church
David & Vreni
Location: Europe
What do they do? David is International Research and Strategy
Associate for their mission board. His duties involve a
combination of travel, study, writing and correspondence
from home and on-the-field teaching, research, discussion
and counsel. He is responsible for missiological research,
strategic planning, teaching and missiological reflection and
writing. Vreni, a homemaker, also serves with David in their
local church.
Praises:
• For the conclusion of David’s reports regarding teens and
their faith.
• Looking forward to 2 of their children arriving for Christ-
mas break on Dec. 19th.
Prayer Requests:
• For their participation with immigrants and diaconal work at
their local church.
• For several hundred workers as they share experiences as to the
most fruitful practices in their ministries in the next 3-4 months.
• Preparation for a consultation in February.
• For preparing a presentation on conversion.
• For defining their mission’s structure and governance for an
international council in March.
Rita Ibbotson
Mission Board: TEAM
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe
What does she do? Rita is the senior tutor-
in-charge at the Karanda School of
Nursing associated with the Karanda
Mission Hospital. The hospital, in a
rural area, serves the Shona people.
Rita’s goal is to train nurses that are
prepared to meet both physical and spiritual needs of their
patients—also to prepare students to be active members of
their churches when they finish the program. Bible classes
are included in the curriculum.
Praises:
• Rita and her good friend John Beran are planning an August
2010 wedding.
• After marriage they plan to return to Zimbabwe once a year
to do some short term mission work at Karanda.
Prayer Requests:
• For sufficient rains for a good harvest next year.
• For the large portion of the population who are without the
means to purchase food that is now available.
• For the great many orphans, widows and destitute who are
extremely vulnerable and without resources.
• To finish well after 21 years of service there.

The FFC Ensemble Group has combined with musicians from
the Iowa Health Ensemble to create a twelve member music
ensemble. For the most part, we will be performing in quartets
or trios. We cordially invite you to attend and enjoy the music
of the Christmas season at the public events listed below. We do
not charge anything for our musical services and consider them a
Christian outreach to the community. We use the opportunities to
share our faith in Christ.
