GENERAL LESSON GOAL Use of Simple Past tense for reporting facts happened. Identify gaps on the use of the past simple tense. Identify the most common mistakes on pronunciation.
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE(S) STs will be able to recognize verbs and their past form, identify in a conversation and songs the use of the past verbs learned. They will be able to use the frequency adverbs in past sentences.
COMMUNICATION OBJECTIVE(S) Students increase the use of the language by speaking and grammar. Students will be able to use the modal verbs in class.
LEARNING / CULTURE OBJECTIVE(S) Students can understand the differences between a polite or non polite request in USA and Colombia.
MATERIALS / RESOURCES Grammar guide about Modal verbs. The war game printed. Color sheets of paper.
LESSON DESCRIPTION STAGE ACTIVITY PROCEDURE TIME
WARM UP
They will go to listen a brief hypothetical situation about a island and If they could save 2 people on a list. They must to explain what they will do if they would to save people and talk about why.
5~10 min
PRESENTATION
There is an explanation about the topic and the words that they can use in depends a situation. They make a shot exercise about the island exercise.
15 min
PRACTICE
They bring their homework about news and they are going to discuss with a partner about the new about possibilities and what actions must be taken in place. A game head and tail about past verbs practice. 40 min
PRODUCTION
Students will make 2 groups and they will play the war game. Where 1 student ask a question that the other group had made. Depends on the quality of the answer there is a point for a group. They must to use the Modal verbs in all the questions and the answers. 30 min
ASSESSMENT
There is a short quiz about write a letter for any Enterprise or entity to requesting (environment, sponsorship or help). Later, they will go to read to everyone.
40 min HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
Bring a story about an adventure or strange situation that they have taken. 20 lines at least.
