Five metatarsal bones
Five proximal phalanges
Four middle phalanges (toes 2 to 5)
Five distal phalanges (big toe has only two phalanges)

Articulations of the foot
The tibia articulates with the dome of the talus.
The talus articulates with the calcaneus, the main weight-
bearing (and the largest) bone of the foot by way of the
subtalar joint.
The talonavicular and calcaneocuboid joints together form
the midtarsal joint ("Choparts joint").
