How to Root the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8
The Xperia X8 has been around for so long t hat it t ends t o become lost amongst t he new
breed of supersmart phones. But we are sure t here are some out t here st ill hanging on t o
t his lit t le fella and t his guide is for t hem, showing t hem how t o root t heir Sony Ericsson
Xperia X8
I. Before You Begin
1. You will need t o have Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or above inst alled on your PC for
t he root ing t ool t o run wit hout problems. You can get it here
(ht t p:/ / www.microsoft .com/ en-in/ download/ det ails.aspx?id=5205).
2. Make sure t hat you have at least 75% of your bat t ery charged before you begin.
3. Back up anyt hing you feel is import ant before you proceed any furt her.
II. Necessary Downloads
SuperOneClickv2.3.3-Short Fuse.zip [Download link available here (ht t p:/ / short fuse.org/ ?

III. Rooting the Xperia X8
1. Ext ract SuperOneClickv2.3.3-Short Fuse.zip t o a folder on your deskt op.
2. Enable USB Debugging on your device. To do t his, go t o Menu > Set t ings >
Applicat ions > Developer Opt ions and t ick t he USB Debugging checkbox.
3. Enable inst allat ion of apps from unknown sources. Go t o Menu > Set t ings >
Applicat ions and t ick t he Unknown sources checkbox.
3. Connect your device t o your PC and if t here are any drivers being inst alled at t his point ,
let Windows 7 do so.
4. From t he folder you ext ract ed above, run SuperOneClick.exe.
5. Click on Root .
Your Xperia X8 should be root ed once t he applicat ion confirms t hat your device is root ed!
IV. Unrooting the Xperia X8
1. Follow t he same st eps as in Sect ion IV unt il St ep 4.
2. Click on Unroot .

i rooted my device and at the end it says root successful bt the phone isn't recoginizing any
sim card!

Hello Prateek, that should not happen as rooting usually does not affect your phone's
ability to recognize a SIM card. Can you try unrooting with SuperOneClick and see if
that solves the SIM card issue?

Does rooting my sony xperia x8 will affect my network unlock? cause i am using an openline
xperis x8 and i want to root it now i just wanna know if rooting will affect the openline?

hi, i followed the above procedure to root my xperia x8, thinking that i can browse the
content of my sd card so i can install games and applications to my phone but sad to say, i
still cant view the contents of my sd card. please help me on this. thanks

Well, x8 should have office suite, so use that. A better way is to download ES File
Explorer from the Market.

As you now have root access on your device, you can install a custom recovery and
then begin flashing custom ROMs.
