Computer and Information Science and
Engineering (CISE) Research Infrastructure
(CFDA No. 47.070)
Purpose: To support the creation of new CISE
research infrastructure or the enhancement of existing
CISE research infrastructure to enable world-class
CISE research opportunities at the awardee and
collaborating institutions and to support the planning
for new CISE community research infrastructure, the
creation of new CISE research infrastructure or the
enhancement of existing CISE infrastructure to enable
world-class CISE research opportunities for broad-
based communities of CISE researchers that extend
well beyond the awardee institutions.
Eligibility: Nonproft, non-academic organizations
such as independent museums, observatories, research
labs, professional societies and similar organizations;
universities and colleges (including community
colleges).
Funding: $18 million.

CyberCorps(R): Scholarship for Service (CFDA
No. 47.076)
Purpose: To check the misuses of cyber technology;
bolster education and training in cyber security;
establish a science of cyber security; and transition

Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer
our Future (CFDA Nos. 47.041, 47.049, and 47.070)
Purpose: To support activities that accelerate
materials discovery and development by building the
fundamental knowledge base needed to design and
make materials with specifc and desired functions or
properties from frst principles.
Eligibility: Universities and two- and four-year
colleges (including community colleges).

Gifted Education Program Evaluation (CFDA No.
10.200)
Purpose: To provide a comprehensive report of
fndings on the state of gifted education programs
in the Department of Defense Education Activity
areas, districts, and schools that will inform future
programming direction to enhance gifted program
practices and achievement of program goals.
Eligibility: State agricultural experiment stations;
state cooperative extension services; all colleges and
universities; other research or educational institution
or organization; and any other contractor or recipient,
either foreign or domestic.

Improving Undergraduate Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education

Purpose: To increase the number and diversity of
STEM students, prepare students to participate in
science for tomorrow, and to improve students STEM
learning outcomes.

Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program
(CFDA No. 45.313)
Purpose: To support professional development,
graduate education and continuing education to help
libraries and archives develop the human capital
capacity they need to meet the changing learning and
information needs of the American public.
Eligibility: Unit of state or local government or a
private nonproft organization, library or a parent
organization, such as a school district, a municipality,
or an academic institution, that is responsible for the
administration of a library, public libraries, public
elementary and secondary school libraries, college
and university libraries, research libraries and
archives.
Funding: $10 million.

NEA Research: Art Works, FY 2015 (CFDA No.
45.024)
Purpose: To collect and analyze data on a host of
variables with research areas including the systems
core components of Arts Participation and Arts
Creation; the systems inputs (Arts Infrastructure
and Education and Training); and the systems main
outcomes, e.g., cognitive or emotional benefts
to individuals, or civic or economic benefts to
communities.

American tribal organizations; and nonprofts.

Offce of Innovation and Improvement: Charter
Schools Program Grants for National Leadership
Activities (CFDA No. 84.282N)
Purpose: To increase national understanding of
the charter school model by providing fnancial
assistance for the planning, program design, and
initial implementation of charter schools; evaluating
the effects of charter schools, including the effects on
students, student academic achievement, staff, and
parents; expanding the number of high-quality charter
schools available to students across the nation; and
encouraging the states to provide support to charter
schools for facilities fnancing in an amount that is

more commensurate with the amount the states have
typically provided for non-chartered public schools.
Eligibility: State educational agencies (SEAs) in
states with a state statute specifcally authorizing the
establishment of charter schools; authorized public
chartering agencies; public and private nonproft
organizations with a mission that explicitly includes
operating, supporting, or managing charter schools;
and public and private nonproft organizations in
partnership with an SEA, authorized public chartering
agency, or a public or private nonproft organization
with a mission that explicitly includes supporting
charter schools.
Funding: $4 million.

Purpose: To build research capacity by providing
support to experienced, highly qualifed individuals,
including those who are individuals with disabilities,
to perform research on the rehabilitation of
individuals with disabilities; and develop methods,
procedures, and rehabilitation technology that

society, employment, independent living, family
support, and economic and social self-suffciency of
individuals with disabilities.

Purpose: To support high quality projects in which
advances in research and education could not occur
without international collaboration and to catalyze a
higher level of international engagement in the U.S.
science and engineering community.
Eligibility: U.S. academic institutions with Ph.D.-
granting programs that have awarded doctoral degrees
in the 2012 or 2013 academic years in any area of
research supported by National Science Foundation.
Funding: $15 million.

Purpose: To strengthen the
nations scientifc competitiveness
by increasing the number of well-
prepared U.S. citizens, nationals,
and permanent residents who
pursue careers in the mathematical
sciences and to improve
research training by involving
undergraduate students, graduate

and faculty members in structured
research groups centered on a
common research theme.
