When you hear the phrase, “the Word of God” you think of the Scripture, everything,

including the “New Testament”. Was this what the Apostles like Paul was referring to
when they referred to the “Word”? The “Word” spoken of in the “New Testament”
does not include the Gospels and the letters of Paul, and in this study we are looking
into detail to find out what the “Word of YHVH” means and what Paul and the
Apostles meant when they referred to “the Word”. We will start at the beginning and
work our way through to define “the Word of YHVH” and then apply it appropriately in
the Brit Chadasha (New Testament).

Word of YHVH = Elohim = YHVH = Y’shua

The Word was in the Beginning and He created everything by His Word and the
Word was with Elohim and was Elohim. Can this be? The Word is YHVH!

1
It is the same thing as to say that the words I speak is “me”. Where do your words
originate from and how is it connected to you? We get the answer in Ps 33:6 where
YHVH said that He made the heavens by His Word and with the Breath or Ruach of
His mouth. Breath or Ruach is what we know as YHVH’s Spirit (Holy Spirit). The
word Ruach also means “character” and YHVH’s Spirit is His Character and the
Words He spoke is Who He is. That is why you are your words and why you will be
judged by every word that comes from your mouth (Mat 12:36) because your words
represent you. In the same way we get to know YHVH through His Words and Who
He is. That is why John states, “…in the Beginning the Word was with Elohim and
was Elohim”. Elohim is plural and we know that Y’shua is the Word Who became
flesh but we also see in Ps 33 that His Spirit is His Word. Y’shua said in John 14:7
“…if you have known Me you would have known the Father…” and this implies that
Y’shua and the Father is one and the same in relation to His Character (Spirit) and
His Word.

Breath = Ruach = Spirit of YHVH = Character of YHVH = Word of YHVH

The aim is to become like YHVH and we can become like Him if we receive His
Character because, you will be known by your character. How do I receive His
Character?

Faith = Hearing the Word of YHVH = Receiving His Character

The Word of YHVH is transferred to you by His Voice and the

“voices of man” conveying His Word. This is also a principle found in Genesis where
we read:

0 - * 1 1 2 &
& '

The Word dwelled in the Garden with Adam and Eve and this was the “Voice of
YHVH walking” with them. This was Y’shua (Word (Voice) in the flesh) walking with
them, transferring His Character to them by speaking His Word to them.

We normally do not connect the word “faith” to this process, but it is one and the
same thing; YHVH transfers His Character to us through Words and we receive. You
receive these Words if you believe them, then it becomes part of you and the
“change of character” takers place.

James calls it the ”implanted Word” and this Word “become flesh” in your life and
then you will express His Voice through your actions and words, just like Y’shua did
the Garden.

2
This Word becomes flesh if you become a “doer of the Word” you this proves that
you have a “change of character” and the process has started in your life. The Word
you have received through faith MUST be expressed in your life to show that this is
now part of your character. This is what true faith is.

Faith without works is dead and receiving His Word without a change in your
character means that you are still dead in your spirit and you have not received His
Word and has not become LIKE Him.

Likeness of YHVH = to be Created into YHVH’s Character

YHVH created us in His Image and Likeness but He only finished the “Image” part at
Creation and He is still busy completing man to be in “His Likeness”. This is a
continual process of speaking His Word over every area of our lives to establish His
Character (Likeness) in those who receive His Words with meekness.

How do I know YHVH? By knowing His Word. How do I serve YHVH? By

obeying His Word. His Word is the contact point between Him and us
and this is the medium He relates to us.

Word = Commandments = Food = Life

YHVH’s Word and His Commandments are our spiritual food that we need to grow
spiritually and those who keep the Commandments will become strong.

3
His Word is compared to being the bread and water of life, two things man need to
sustain himself physically. We saw the example in the provision of supernatural
bread (manna) and water (from the rock) in the wilderness. The manna and the water
were directly given from the hand of YHVH and without that, they would have all died.
Without His Word and His Commandments we will become weak and will die
spiritually and not inherit the Promised Land (Salvation).

Word = Commandments = Light

The Law or Torah is like a light for my path by which I can see in the darkness. Sin is
compared to be darkness and Truth compared in being light. Darkness or sin is not
an entity in it self, it is the absence of light. In the same way is sin the absence of
YHVH’s Truth/Word. If you do not have the Truth of His Word/Torah in your heart,
there will be darkness in you and you will walk like a blind man not knowing where to
go. People who do not receive His Word are spiritually blind and do not see the light
or the truth to walk in.

YHVH spoke His Word and these words are written down so that everyone who
reads and receives it, may be changed by it. YHVH’s Word is His Will for our lives
and if we receive His Word and act accordingly, we will be doing His Will and follow
Y’shua’s example. Not my will be done but my Father’s Will.

You must understand how Hebrew text works to appreciate this passage. Hebrew
text is written in Hebrew poetry where there are normally two thoughts used that
sound different but are the same. In this case it is the words; “Your will” and “Torah”.
The first thought relates to the feeling “delight” and the second thought is where you
will find this feeling, in the “heart”. You find this Hebrew poetry especially in the
Psalms. This shows us that “YHVH’s Will” is the same as “His Torah” or “His
Instructions”, which will be in the hearts of the righteous.

Bringing these thoughts together shows us that Y’shua is the Word, He is the Torah
and He is the Law or Instructions of YHVH, He is the Voice of YHVH and the Actions,
doing YHVH’s Will. The opposite of the Father’s will is self-will and we find this in
Scripture in Gen_49:6

Self-will is connected to anger and the result is a curse that caused Israel to be
divided.
Will – - “ratson” - meaning - favour, acceptance, will, desire, pleasure,
self-will.
This favour is not in a positive context and shows the strong will of man, not seeking
the will of YHVH, and these people will be divided and scattered. Just like a
Covenant is cut or divided, so will those be “divided” if they break it and follow their
own will. YHVH’s Word contains His Covenant and if you are self-willed, not following
His Will (Torah), you will be divided from His people and left scattered in the nations.
Lets look at the word “will”, from the meaning of each Hebrew letter:

Resh - - Human reasoning

Tsadik - - Righteous

Nun - - Fruitful

5
It is the human mind that will determine man' s destiny; if he chooses YHVH’s Will, he
will be righteous and fruitful, but if he chooses his own will, he will be unrighteous and
un-fruitful. The Word or the Torah is the Will of the Father that we must place over
and above our own wills and this will cause you to be righteous and fruitful.

Y’shua came to live the Torah or Law so that man can see the perfect example of
what YHVH’s Character is like. Does it make sense to change or take away from
YHVH’s Character? Would you like if someone takes away from your character? If
you change His Word then you changes His Character and Y’shua said that this
would not happen:

< A#,$#- : 2 % 8

The Word, as John described it, is Y’shua in the flesh and if you take
away from His Word, then you take away from your Savoir. If you
change someone’s character then you change that person and if you
change Y’shua’s Character, then you are “creating” another Y’shua
that is different from what the Scripture reveals and you serve an Idol
YOU have created. Is it possible? Lets see what Paul said:

There are a lot of people out there who follow “another Jesus” and it is not the
Person described in His Word. They follow another spirit and that spirit does not help
them to conform to His Character/Word. They follow another Gospel and they have
different doctrines which Paul calls “doctrines of demons”

Y’shua = Word = Sword = Measuring Stick = Judge

Y’shua is the Word and He is the Saviour and He is the Judge. He will come with a
two edged Sword which is the symbol of His Word. The Word/Torah is the knowledge
of sin and without that, we will not know what right or wrong is. Without the
Word/Torah there cannot be righteous judgment and if you take away the
Commandments, Y’shua cannot judge. It also said that you will be judged by every
word that comes from your mouth? Why is that? Because you are your words and
your words depict your character. If your character has being changed by YHVH’s
Word to become like Him, then your words will sound like His Words and you will be
in line and not against His Standard of righteous judgment.

Treat YHVH’s Word with respect, then you will treat Him with
respect. Honour and obey YHVH’s Word, then you will honour
and obey Him. Let the seed of His Word fall in your hearts so that
you may receive His Character in you and may you express it
through your words and your actions. If you take away from His
Word, then you take away from Him and you might end up
serving another god and follow another spirit and have your
name blotted out of the Book of life. Embrace His Whole Word
and change accordingly, then you can have true faith and
assurance of salvation knowing the Saviour.
