The following materials will be required for a basic 'sail away boat'. Note that there are many variations possible, with
the different options now available, and different materials and techniques. The amount and type of materials will thus
vary with the individual builder. Optional items such as Electronics or Marine Head are not included. For economy,
many items such as hatches, can be built by the builder.
BASIC BUILDING MATERIALS
STRONG BACK
150 x 25mm /6 x 1" - 29.5m (96')
75 x 25mm/3 x 1" - 15m (50')

19 - 1200 x 2400 (4 x 8') sheets
PRIMARY LAMINATES
Laminate options are given on Sheet 1 and the base
sheathing and core materials required for hulls,
decks etc., can be determined from these, in con-
junction with surface areas as listed below.
Allow for the following wastage:
Cedar 5%, Foam 15%, Glass 15%, Resin
10%,

FIBERGLASS MATERIALS
The following will be required in addition to basic hull
and deck sheathing fabrics as determined above. If
necessary, it is permissible to double up fabrics, ie.
use two layers of 200gm (6oz) to make one layer of
400gm (12oz).

EXTERNAL PARTS AND FITTINGS
Deck Gear (HK: Harken, RF: Ronstan, SCH: Schaeffer)
Preferred choice is always listed first when several part
options are given
Many catalogues publish recommended sizes for mono-
hull yachts. Be aware that a multihull, with its much
greater stability, will put a higher load on sailing gear.
The equivalent monohull size to the F-32 is 12 to 13m (39
to 44'). Dont use gear rated for 10m (33') monohulls. It
will be too small.
