A. Learning Objective
Given experiment about Spring Potential Energy, student can understand
concept of spring energy.
B. Problem
In daily life we always connected with energy, in physics energy used to
do work, both kinetik energy, potential also mixture them are called
mechanic energy. One of form of energy is potential energy in spring, where
energy influenced by displacement of spring.




The figure is one of application of spring in daily life, and two types of
spring above also obtained at motorcycle, where one of type of spring is
used, namely parallel spring or single spring. If spring type (costanta) is
identic, so your opinion, which figure more effective is used in daily life?

Objectives
1. Student can determine spring costanta
2. Student can determine potential energy of dispalcement of single spring
3. Student can determine potential energy of two types spring circuit.

Burden 5 types (50 gram)

Ohauss Balance

Work Procedure
Activity 1: Determine Costanta and Potential Energy of Spring
1. Prepare experiment apparatus
2. Measure burden mass (5 types) with using Ohauss Balance
3. Hang spring in static and measure initial spring length (x

)
4. Hang 1 burden in spring and measured final spring length (x)
5. Repeat step 4 with adding burden in spring for all burden which
measured its mass
6. Repeat step 3-5 with other spring.
7. Note the result of observation in table
Activity 2: Determine Potential Energy of Spring to Series and Parallel Circuit
1. Prepare burden which used in activity 2
2. Hang spring with series circuit in static and measure initial spring length
(x

3. Hang 1 burden in spring and measured final spring length (x)
4. Repeat step 3 with adding burden in spring for all burden which
measured its mass
5. Repeat step 3-4 with parallel circuit spring.
6. Note the result of observation in table




Planning Observation
1. Work in group. Each group member should be have task clearly, example
prepare apparatus will be used, do observation, write data, conclude,
work exercise and clean work place.

b. From graph, determine costanta value to each spring
c. Calculate potential energy value for each single spring is used
