1992: A YEAR OF SADNESS
AND GREAT REJOICING
SRI LANKA REVISITED (FEBRUARY)
Bob started the only Christian
Church/Church of Christ in Sri Lanka in
1985. We are saddened that we are not able
to continue with the work in Sri Lanka
because of our financial difficulties. Sri
Lanka is some distance from Singapore and
therefore we are not able to give teaching
and spiritual guidance to the church. They
are in much need of financial, spiritual and
teaching help and desperately need your
prayers.
CAMBODIA (OCTOBER)
We rejoice that the refugees are returning to
their homeland after almost 15 years of being
in refugee camps in Thailand. A month of
teaching and sharing with the people of
Cambodia was very rewarding to me. I pray
also to the Lord Jesus Christ to watch over
the 259 who were baptized into His name.
The Church now has a firm foundation on
which to build. "Day after day, in the
temple courts and from house to house, they
never stopped teaching and proclaiming the
good news that Jesus is the Christ." (Acts
5:42)
MALAYSIA (JULY)
We rejoice that the first Christian
Church/Church of Christ of Malaysia was
able to rent a house for the minister to live
in plus a meeting place for the Church. The
Church was officially registered this year and
recognized by the government.
SINGAPORE CONTINUES
Diane continues to work with the Japanese
almost every day. Bob is busy with the every
day ministry of the church. Our church
building will possibly be torn down in 1993.
We have no direction at this time from the
Lord. The government bought the building
from us a few years ago, but the church did
not receive enough money to buy another
property.
1993: A YEAR OF ANTICIPATION
CAMBODIA RETURN TRIP
Bob received a letter from the Christians in
Cambodia asking that he come again to teach
and share with them.
The first free presidential election of
Cambodia will be held on April 5, 1993.
The outcome of that election will determine
if the people continue to fight a war of if
they will finaly have peace in their country.
Please keep Cambodia in your prayers. It is
a country wide open to the gospel now.
After the election in May, we are not sure
what the government's stand will be toward
Christianity.
MALAYSIA GROWS
The Church is planning to have quarterly
seminars. For 1993, the seminars will
include teaching plus training leaders and
building the church's foundation. Jeff
Marks, Minister of the Gethsemane Church
of Christ, Mechanicsville, Virginia will be
our first speaker starting March 17. Bob
Stacy, Minister of the Catlin Church of
Christ will be our speaker in November. We
are looking forward to a great time of
fellowship and teaching.
It is our prayer that the church will grow to
100 members by the end of this year and that
the church will be self-supporting by the end
of 1994. We need your financial support for
the work in Malaysia during this time. We
are still $500 per month short of our needs.
One need is a place for baptisms. Another
need is for chairs. Many must sit on the
floor because of the shortage of chairs.
SINGAPORE IS STRENGTHENED
Richard and Josephine Wong will be
returning to Singapore after Richard finishes
his Masters program at Lincoln Christian
Seminary this summer. Richard will become
the Senior Minister of the Singapore
Christian Canaan Church. The congregation
is very much anticipating their return.
Richard and Josephine have a great
responsibility upon their shoulders. Keep
them in your prayers.
Edmund Au will also complete his Masters
program this year at Lincoln Christian
Seminary, but we are not sure of his plans at
this time. As he waits upon the Lord's
leading, we need to pray that he will find a
place to serve.
We pray God will use these fine people in a
mightj' way!
UPDATE JUST IN
As we were preparing this newsletter to send
to you, we recieved an informative FAX
from Bob, dated March 4, 1993.
Bob and Diane have just returned from
Malaysia yesterday. They report that the
building they are using for church services in
Malaysia will seat 100 people comfortably.
Curtains have been placed across the front of
the worship hall and two air-conditioners
have been purchased on payments. The
air-conditioners are a real help as they have
eliminated almost all of the external noice
that was so disturbing besides the cooling
benefit. Additional chairs, floor covering,
and a place for baptisms are needed now.
Twenty people have signed up for the
upcoming seminar and they are expecting at
least 40. The 20 have paid the $15.00
registration fee.
VHS video cassettes of the mission work are
available upon request. They will run
between 6 and 20 minutes in length.

GREETinGS
FROm SIHGAPORE:
BOB RETURNED TO THE UNITED
STATES to be with his father, Howard
Sigafoose, during a most difficult time in his
life. Howard, who is 84 years old, has
recently found that he has cancer again! He
was diagnosed as having cancer of the lung
and lymph glands this time. However, after
an operation and a biopsy, they have
discovered that he has cancer of the thymus
gland which is very uncommon. He started
radiation treatments on Thursday, April 15.
We are told that the treatments will continue
five days a week for five to six weeks.
Diane was not able to come with Bob
because of her fall 18 months ago. She still
suffers from dizzy spells and head pains.
She was afraid that an airplane trip and the
change of schedule would be too much for
her. Diane is taking medication daily. The
doctor claims that it may be another year
before she fully recovers.
While in the States, Bob was able to visit
with Richard, Josephine and Kayla Wong in
Lincoln, IL. Richard is busy finishing his
class room work and will then do his thesis
before returning to Singapore in September
of this year. The church is anxiously
awaiting the return of the Wong's as are we.
Bob recently baptized Ynomiko, a Japanese
lady that he and Diane have known for
several years. Other Japanese people in
Singapore have indicated that they would
like to attend church but their English is just
not good enough to understand all that is
said. We are discussing the possibility of
having a Bible study just for the Japanese,
and then we can take our time in explaining
the scripture.
mALAYSIA
On February 27 a
wedding was held flB
in the church. We
were able to set . ^
up 100 chairs, but mW
about 135 attended z
the wedding. Then v
a tent was set up 1 .
in the parking lot w
of the shopping ..
center for the wedding dinner. This visibility
let the people of the community know that
we are there.
A 10 day Seminar was held at the Church in
Malaysia. Jeff Marks of the Gethsemene
Church of Christ, Mechanicsville, Virgina
was the featured speaker. His teaching
included Building Quality Leadership, and
fulfilling the goals that are set. An average
of 25 attended every evening and a total of
42 different people attended the meetings.
We are already anticipating our next Seminar
which is to be held in June. Ron Ritchey, a
former co-worker in Indonesia and a dear
friend, will be holding that meeting which
will be entitled, "Building Quality Christian
Character."

FUTURE PLAnS
1. Cambodia - If the upcoming elections
turn out right, it would be good for me to
return to this country to further the new
work that has begun.
2. Australia - I have again been asked to
speak at the special meetings that will be
held this summer.
3. Malaysia - We have applied for a visa to
Malaysia so that the work of this new
congregation can be strengthened. We have
been told that it is not likely we will get a
visa, but we have been told that before.
Please pray that God will open doors for us
to work more effectively .
