What to expect from this class:

Welcome to English/Read 180! This class will focus on six main areas of the
Language Arts Curriculum: reading, writing, communication, vocabulary, inquiry,
and grammar/mechanics. This class is also your English class for your 7th
grade year. This class will be geared toward improving students confidence,
skills, and fluency in these areas. It is based around the highly successful
Read 180 program. This is a program that integrates working on computers,
independent & guided reading, and completing group & individual strategy-based
assignments. If you are willing to work hard, YOU WILL SUCCEED.

Course Materials:
You must bring the following materials to class each day:
1. Pencil/ Pen (Blue or Black Ink ONLY!)
2. Paper
3. Composition Notebook (Available for purchase at the Finance Window)
4. Reading Book
*A folder will be provided for you in the classroom where you can store assignments.

Grading Scale:
Because the majority of assignments are done during class time, daily
attendance is very important. You will receive points for assignments and
participation, which will be converted into a percentage. The final grade will be
based on the percentage of the total points which the student earns. If you are
talking, disrupting, or not on task, you will lose points. Grades will be determined
by the following scale:
Grading Scale:
A 94% ADVANCED 4
