#ANNEXURE FOR SIBM PUNE

Personally, taking an average of the amount of time i spend on social networking sites, wont give a
proper idea of my time spent on them. That is because there are instances, like College exams, Entrance
exams, when I keep myself devoid of all social interactions online. I deactivate my account on a number
of accounts (even now) which could stretch up to few months. But the gregarious person that I am, I get
back as soon as possible and when I do, I spend 1 - 2.5 hours online on an average. In my case, the
majority of time I spend is justified to some extent. That is because before college, I have lived in various
countries and hence been to different schools. As a result, I made friends who take time to stay in touch
with me and likewise. After passing out from college, several close friends with whom I have shared my
entire four years have been scattered all over the globe. Naturally we want to keep in touch with each
other quite often. Apart from that, since college, my family has continued to live abroad according to my
Father's postings. So instead of calling them quite often, I prefer to update them via Facebook,
especially my younger sister since she can relate to most of my personal life. From my perspective, since
most of my activities are to do with staying in touch and updated with my close ones, I feel 1-2.5 hours
on social networking sites is justified. Sure I have tried my hands with online Games/applications on
Facebook which would occasionally devour my entire evenings. Fortunately, I have never been addicted
to them and hence they have had negligible effect on my average.

Electrical Machines, I had flunked this subject last year due to misjudgment of the vast course that it
comprises of. So here I was in my third year, waiting to clear the exam this year. Since third year itself
was very hectic with the internships and passing away of my Grandfather to make things worse, I could
only manage to collect all the materials and class notes of my juniors and friends by the time the
datesheet for the exams was out. Luck seemed to be on my side when to my delight I saw that I had at
least 4 complete days after my 5th sem exams to prepare for the Machines paper. Soon the exams
commenced and in no time were they on the brink of completion. After giving my penultimate paper, I
was on my way to the hostel when I saw a crowd gather around a notice board. To my horror, the
datesheet of the juniors had changed and my Machines paper was the very next day! Todays' exam
finished at 6pm and it was nearly 7pm already! The juniors have their exams in the morning at around 9
am! Mentally exhausted and engulfed in darkness, I knew there was no way out now and lost all hope of
passing again. But after speaking to my Father about this, I found some sort of invigorating energy
flowing through me. I was able to think and analyze coherently. Skipping dinner, I began by analyzing
the previous years papers. Spoke to my juniors about any hints, tips and important topics. In the end I
was able systematically prepare, yet give just 6 hours of time to the subject until 4 in the morning. By
the time the results came, I flunked yet again, but after rechecking cleared it!

3 Values that I hold dear:

Loyalty
Respect (Self and for Others)
Optimism

One such situation was on my grandfather's death anniversary.Belonging to a Buddhist family, we called
the monks to our house.Due to some confusion, a monk was stranded on some bus stand and sought
help.He asked us to pick him up from a specific bus stand.I and my cousin went in his car to collect the
monk, but to our surprise he wasn't there! We called the monk to confirm his location.Still no luck in
finding him despite several efforts.I called him again and for some reason, this confusion along with the
scathing heat outside caused him to lose his temper and he rebuked us.He insulted us and told us to go
back. All perplexed, we went back and narrated the story to everyone. After an hour , the stranded monk
along with the other monks arrived in our house. With his first gaze upon me and my Brother, with fury
he spoke in front of everybody, I curse you both! You both shall never have a wife and I curse you both
with bad luck! No matter how much respect I have for the monks, my religion and my values have
taught me to keep self respect, through right actions and speech. There was a conflict between respect
and self respect.Maybe the obvious solution was to leave the monk to his fury, apologize and get it over
with, but I decided to reason out with him, in addition told him that we idolize the monks, they are
supposed to forgive no matter what, isnt that what makes you closer to enlightment? He shrugged and
moved away.Later a different monk revealed that he was standing next to the wrong bus stop, he
thought it was the one which he mentioned.

Being an Athlete and a Sportsperson,I applied some of my leadership/team building skills as the
Captain/Coach of my College's Badminton team (DCE).When my team players played an independent
tournament,I would act as their coach, and when we would play as a team(College or Branch),where its
necessary to win most of the events(Singles,Doubles,Mixed) I would act as their captain. While playing
doubles,I had to analyze whether my partner is able to execute the right shots or not.Accordingly I
would position him/her and myself on the court and take the pressure accordingly.Simultaneously try
and deduce the opponent's tactics,and systematically plan a defensive or a counter attack.Similarly I
would discuss/advise my players when they are playing doubles with someone else or while they play
their singles. The best thing about a sportsperson is that he/she always has the opportunity to
improve.Improve by analyzing your weaknesses and working upon them.
Another instance is a minute incident yet powerful in meaning.Being a part of a government college,I
have had my share of waiting for eternity for any response for any complaint or changes. One time in
1st year,I decided to act upon a problem. We would sit in confined classrooms the whole day without
any lights or fans. The problem persisted for more than a month.I gathered the class representatives
from all the branches that study in that classroom, wrote a convincing complaint letter and took
everyone to the Director instead of the HOD as per rules. We faced problems trying to reach him,but
somehow persuaded the receptionist to arrange a 5 minute meeting. He was a delight to talk to.He
appreciated our efforts to help continue classes which used to get cancelled.Within the next 2 days,we
were rewarded with Central AC facility and Lights. The best opportunity here was the opportunity to gel
and understand my batch mates and build a sense of trust.

Being a Son of a Diplomat, my life has all been about living overseas, from one country to another. AS a
result, I have developed a penchant for meeting and interacting with people with diverse backgrounds,
life and culture. Attracted by this gregarious nature of mine, I have been helpful to many, including
strangers in terms of systematically solving their problems ranging from their personal life to college life.
I am also an Official Expert Advisor on Shiksha.com. So having a slightly similar work life but more
professional is my main priority, like a Consultant at a very reputed Consultancy firm. By definition, a
Consultant is someone who provides professional or expert advice in particular areas or specialized
fields. This is where SIBM Pune comes into picture. I need guidance and grooming from professional,
World Class, renowned faculties and facilities to kick start my career towards my interests, and on the
right note. To be that expert in the future, I need SIBM Pune. Although my goal for now is to be an
expert and a professional consultant maybe in HR or Marketing, because they seem appealing and
interesting, I would love to explore and experiment with the world of Consultancy. With the brand name
of SIBM Pune as my background, I am sure I will get the opportunity and flexibility to do that.
If I were given an opportunity to be one of the following eminent personalities, of their respective fields,
I would without a doubt choose Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Reasons include the sporty background that we
share and the impact that he has on others, be it on the field or off the field. I feel I can relate to the
pressure he withstands as a captain, to drive his team mates and at the same time be consistent in
performing. Moreover, I love exploring any field I love and Sports is one of them. I have utmost regard
for every sport as they symbolize something or the other. It has the potential to bring people of
different backgrounds come together as one team or supporters of the same personality. Yes the spirit
of the game can do wonders. My forte is Badminton, and Ive tried my level best to achieve the highest
possible level I can. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at an International level which I would love to have a taste
of. Being a Sport enthusiast, one thing that I would like to change in the new me would be to do less
glamorous advertisements and more endorsement for supporting different sporting facilities financially,
creating awareness and providing opportunities in Sports apart from Cricket at a Holistic level. Knowing
that I have a magnetic aura and influence on my fans and the country, I am sure my voice for supporting
Sports in India wont fall on deaf ears.
