CONNECT TO VCENTER S ERVER
2. Log on to the vCenter 4.X server (physical or VM) using RDP
a. To avoid being disconnected while upgrading the vCenter server, it is important to use a physical console
connection, RDP, or the vSphere Client connected directly to an ESX server.
b.
3. Access the vCenter 5.X installation files.
a. The files may be in an *.iso or *.zip and may require extraction to be usable. We use 7-ZIP to extract both *.iso and
*.zip files
b. In our environment, the vCenter 5 is located in: \\share\files\vSphere 5\VMware-VIMsetup-all-5.X.X-XXXXXX

c. Copy the entire VMware-VIMsetup-all-5.X.X-XXXXXX folder to the desktop

d. Initiate the VMware-VIMsetup-all-5.X.X-XXXXXX installer by douple-clicking on autorun.exe
