Grade 6 Aristotle 7:10-7:40

The pupils took their first periodical exams in MSEP( Music, Arts and PE). Their
exams consisted 50 items, 17 items for both Music and Arts, and 16 items for PE. Grade
6 Aristotle entered the classroom quietly and immediately said their prayer. Before they
started answering , Maam Simangca gave reminders when taking a test. She also asked
the pupils to state the other guidelines for taking exams. They used intermediate paper as
answer sheets. The pupils were well-behaved and orderly seated. Everyone was focused
on taking the tests. After they took their exams, they recited a chant while passing their
papers, resulting in a very orderly submission. There were 41 students present and 3
absentees.

Grade 6 Einstein 8:10-8:40

The next section to take the exams was the Grade 6- Einstein. There were 48 students
in all and everyone was present. The pupils sang a song as their prayer. They also greeted
us nicely in a well-projected voice. The pupils were also behaved. They went through the
same procedures as the first section while taking the exams. In both sections, most of
them, if not all, were able to finish the exams on time.


Grade 6 - Marconi
8:10-8:40- Proctoring
We were asked to proctor the exams for Grade 6 Marconi because Sir Macapagal, their
music teacher, was absent. The students were a little restless and talkative. We had to
watch them carefully. Many of the students were not able to finish the exam so they had
to continue the next meeting.


8:40-10:15- Checking of papers
After proctoring the exams, we checked the test papers of Grade 6- Einstein. It took us a
long time to finish checking the papers. I needed to be extra careful so I could check the
papers correctly. Personally, I enjoyed checking the papers even though it was tiring.


Grade 6- Edison
10:30-11:00
Again, we proctored the continuation of Grade 6 Edisons exams. The pupils were a little
noisy and misbehaved compared to the other sections we observed. When the time was
almost over, there were still two pupils who werent finished. Some of them werent
really focused on answering their tests. After they were all finished, we asked them to
exchange papers for checking.

Grade 5- Emerald 12:20-12:50 (Sir Rafa)
Today was our first official music class observation. The pupils were very lively and
participative. They get excited easily. Their head voice was alright. The teachers voice
had an approachable tone and his head voice was very audible. He used the keyboard as
accompaniment for the prayer and the song. Students were all enthusiastic to sing. The
teacher smiled a lot and also jokes with the students to keep their attention. They ended
their lesson by singing the song once again with accompaniment and actions.


Grade 5- Diamond (Mrs. Rafa)
1:00-1:30 PM
The lesson is the same with Grade 5- Emerald. The teacher used good motivational
materials. However she used the same visual material for the song that Sir Rafa used.
She had good singing voice and leading questions. Students were able to answer the
questions well. Pupils went out of tune several times. At the end of the lesson, they sang
the song with recorded accompaniment and actions.

VI- Aristotle (7:10-7:40)
The pupils entered the room and started with a prayer. Before they started singing the
known song Ang Prutas sa Bukid, Maam Simangca asked the pupils to read the
guidelines for singing. Their method for participation was very organized; Maam
Simangca first calls a pupil, and if the pupil is done reading one guideline, he or she
chooses a classmate to read the next guideline. When the pupils sang Ang Prutas sa
Bukid (which by the way was in the key of G), they-including Maam Simangca- had
difficulty singing the high notes. There was also a part when they kept singing the wrong
pitch and Maam Simangca had to correct them a few times. After asking the pupils what
key and time signature the song had, and what they felt after singing the song, she then
proceeded with the motivation. The pupils immediately recognized the picture as the
three kings. She asked several questions related to the three kings before proceeding
with the main song entitled We three Kings. We Three Kings was in both minor and
major mode. She related the lyrics to the emotion felt in the first and second part of the
song to help the pupils identify where the minor and major mode is in the song. After
giving the definition for Binary form, she let the pupils read the concept together. They
then had a three item evaluation. After the evaluation, they sang the song again with the
girls singing section A and the boys singing B. There was an improvement in the pupils
pitch and tone.







VI-Einstein (7:40-8:10)
This section as they usually do( I think) , sang their prayer. They were equally
participative and lively as VI- Aristotle. However, they had better-sounding speaking
voice when they greeted us. When they sang Ang Prutas sa Bukid, they were more in
tune. In We Three Kings, the pupils also had difficulty singing the right pitch,
particularly maintaining two consecutive sol. After singing the song, Maam Simangca
asked them the standard questions which were also asked in the previous section. They
also had an evaluation at after discussing the concept. At the end of the lesson, they were
able to sing the song better than before.

VI- Galileo (8:10-8:40)
The pupils arrived about 10 minutes late. They were less participative compared to the
other sections. When they were singing the scale, I can clearly hear some pupils singing
other pitches and some pupils singing in a lower register. Maam Simancga also had to
use more leading questions for the pupils to arrive at the correct answer. It was more
time-consuming to teach the section and as a result, the lesson was not finished and had
to be resumed the next meeting.

VI- Curie ( 8:50- 9:20)
When the pupils entered the classroom, some were seated right away, so Maam
Simangca had to remind them to stand up. At first, they were not very participative. The
same pupils wanted to participate. They had difficulty singing the scale, and the wrong
pitches were quite obvious. I also noticed that every time they make a mistake, they look
at us. When they sang the songs, they sounded unsure and they had very soft voice. I
also saw some pupils who were not singing. They were able to have their three-item
evaluation, but they ran out of time to sing We Three Kings again.

VI- Halley (9:40-10:10)
The pupils had loud voices compared to the previous sections. However, when they sang
the scale , they were very out of tune and they always went flat. When they ended the
scale it sounded like it was in minor mode. Maam Simangca also commented that they
were afraid to be asked questions. The section was able to finish their lesson.

VI. Dalton (10:00-10:30) Mrs. Rafa
Grade 6 Dalton had the same lesson with the rest of the sections. Mrs. Rafa had more
questions related to the song We Three Kings. During explaining, she used several
other terms which I didnt see in Maam Simangcas classes. Mrs. Rafa had good
transitions. The pupils did not look very lively. Nevertheless, they were able to arrive at
the right answers and finish their lesson.
