Competition Terms and Conditions

A. Thevaram Competition (Individual)
1. Competition is open for individual participation ONLY.
2. Each participant have to sing TWO(2) songs.
3. The chosen song should be based on the list of songs given by the programme organisers
(please refer to the List of Thevaram Songs).
4. Songs should be fully memorised. Participants will be penalised if they refer to any material
during presentation.
5. Each presentation will be judged according to the following criterias:-
Pronunciation
Raagam
Memorization
Appearance

B. Thevaram Competition (Group)
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of FOUR(4) persons ONLY.
3. Each group have to sing TWO(2) songs.
4. The chosen song should be selected from the list of songs given by the programme
organisers(please refer to the List of Thevaram Songs).
5. Songs should be fully memorised. Participants will be penalised if they refer to any material
during presentation.
6. Each group is given TEN(10) minutes ONLY for their presentation.
7. Each presentation will be judged according to the following criterias:-

C. Bhajan Competition
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of FIVE(5) persons ONLY.
3. Each participant have to sing TWO(2) songs.
4. The chosen song should be based on the list of songs given by the programme
organisers(please refer Bhajan Song List).
5. Songs should be fully memorised. Participants will be penalised if they refer to any material
during presentation.
6. NO MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE ORGANISERS. Participants may bring
their own musical instruments/minus one.
7. Each presentation will be judged according to the following criterias:-

Raagam
Memorization
Appearance

D. Motivational Song Competition (Individual)

1. Competition is open for individual participation ONLY.
2. Each participant have to sing ONE(1) song ONLY.
3. The chosen song MUST be Tamil song that contain MOTIVATIONAL element that is released
between the year 1950 to 2014.
4. Each participant have to NOTIFY about the chosen song BEFORE 1

5. Each participant is given FOUR(4) to SEVEN(7) minutes for their presentation.
6. Song should be fully memorised. Participants will be penalised if they refer to any material
during presentation.

encouraged to bring their own musical instruments or minus-one

E. Motivational Song Competition (Group)
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of FOUR(4) persons ONLY.
3. Each participant have to sing ONE(1) song ONLY.
4. The chosen song MUST be Tamil song that contains MOTIVATIONAL element that is released
between the year 1950 to 2014.
5. Each participant have to NOTIFY about the chosen song BEFORE 1

F. Role-Play Competition

1. Competition is open for individual participation ONLY.
2. Participants will have to dramatize the characters that are related to Hinduism, Tamil
literature or Indian history.
3. Participants SHOULD NOT choose those characters that are ralated to God.
4. Participants will HAVE TO recite a poem related to the character during the presentation. The
poem MUST fully be in TAMIL. Participants are encouraged to compose their own poem.
5. Characters that are sugggested to partcipants are Barathiyaar, Thiruvalluvar, Avaiyar, Veera
Pandiya Kattabomman and others.
6. Poem should be fully memorised. Participants will be penalised if they refer to any material
during presentation.
7. Each participant is given FIVE(5) minutes ONLY for their presentation.
8. A copy of the finalised poem SHOULD be sent to the organisers through email:

G. Thirukural Competition

1. Competition is open for individual participation ONLY.
2. Participants will have to MEMORISE ALL the Kural and vilakkam from the list given.
3. Before the presentation, participants will have to draw a kural and a vilakkam.
4. During presentation, first participants will have to explain the vilakkam of the drawn kural.
Next, they have to state the kural for the drawn vilakkam.
5. All the kural and villakam to be drawn are from the list of Thirukurals given by the
organisers(please refer Thirukural List).
6. Each participant is given ONLY TWO(2) minutes for EACH Kural during their presentation.
7. Each presentation will be judged according to the following criterias:-

H. Thoranam Competition
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of TWO(2) persons ONLY.
3. Each Thoranam MUST ONLY consist of THREE(3) birds on it.
4. Thoranam, ONE(1) pair of scissors, and ONE(1) piece of pocket knife will be provided for
each group.
5. This competition will last for 15 minutes ONLY.
6. Each group will be judged according to the following criterias:-

I. Kolattam Competition
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of SIX(6) to EIGHT(8) persons ONLY.
3. Kolattam sticks will not be provided by the organisers. Each group SHOULD bring their own
Kolattam sticks.
4. Each group is advised to bring extra Kolattam sticks for safety purpose.
5. Movement of dance of the participating group SHOULD NOT STOP until the music stop.
6. Movement of dance of the participating group MUST be synchronised to the rhythm of the
song.
7. It is reminded that Kolattam sticks SHOULD NOT hit the ground during the presentation.
8. The copy of the finalised song SHOULD be sent to the organisers BY 11

9. Finalised song SHOULD NOT be any kind of Rock or R&B musics. Songs also SHOULD NOT
contain ANY vulgar words and MUST be appropriate to the Indian Culture.
10. Finalised song may consist of ONE(1) or more songs that are merged together.
11. Each group is given FIVE(5) to SIX(6) minutes ONLY for their presentation.
12. Each presentation will be judged according to the following criterias:-
Choreography
Creativity
Dance
Coordination
Costume & Accessories

J. Bharathanatyam Competition
1. Competition is open for individual participation ONLY.
2. Each participant is given FIVE(5) to SEVEN(7) minutes ONLY for their presentation.
3. Audio music MUST be a music in the Carnatic style.
4. The copy of the finalised song SHOULD be sent to the organisers by 11

K. Ranggoli Kolam Competition
1. Competition is open for group participation ONLY.
2. Each group SHOULD be consists of FOUR(4) persons ONLY.
3. Each group SHOULD bring their own needed materials for the competition.
4. Groups are allowed to bring rulers, geometry set and stationeries needed.
5. Each group MUST do their kolam on the mahjung paper provided.
6. The size of the kolam MUST NOT EXCEED the size of the mahjung paper.
7. During the competition, groups are STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED to refer to any kind of materials.
Failure to do so will result in the groups DISQUALIFICATION.
8. The kolam spot given to each groups is FINAL and CANNOT BE CHANGED unless told to do so
by the organisers.
9. Each group will have to explain about the kolam and the meaning behind each and every
aspects of the kolam.
10. Kolam can be done either using coloured rice, coconut husks, or sago.
11. Extra decorations can be done to the kolam and may get extra points.
12. All the groups are given ONLY ONE(1) hour to finish the kolam.
13. Each kolam will be judged according to the following criterias:-
