Grading Policy
All assignments have due dates. These deadlines cannot be missed or we will not have a yearbook.
You do not complete your assigned jobit will be reassigned to someone else and you lose credit for that
page (s).

Grading information will be made available for all assignments as the assignment is given. In addition,
assignments will be posted to Grade Speed and to my web page so students and parents are aware of
upcoming assignments. http://humphrey.shs.idso.eportalnow.net

Plagiarism Policy
Students decide if they will submit their work or the direct or indirect work of another. Plagiarism is a
serious issue. Submitting the work/words of another and not citing the reference or resource does not
demonstrate academic integrity. Students that submit plagiarized work will be notified and will receive a
grade of "0" for that assignment. This is very critical for yearbook since we are publishing has to be our
own work. We will discuss at length copyrighted material and your responsibilities for avoiding copyright
infringements.

The grade of A in this course means the student completed the course criteria at a level of Sophisticated
Demonstration; Plagiarism is not Sophisticated Demonstration. A student that participates in plagiarism
or copyright infringement will not earn the grade of A for this course.

Tardy Policy
A student is not tardy when their whole body is through the door frame before the bell finishes ringing.
Students who are delayed for bona fide reasons should bring a pass or have the sending teacher send
me an email to excuse the tardy. Students with habitual lateness issues will be dealt with on a case by
case basis.

Yearbook Mission Statement
The purpose of our yearbook is to be a historical record of the school year, to provide a sense of pride
among students and staff, to serve as a community awareness tool, and to serve as a public relations
tool.

Grades
As a member of the yearbook staff, you have agreed that what you produce will comprise your daily
grades and tests. You will be graded on meeting deadlines, taking photos, writing copy, constructing
pages, spreads, sections, selling yearbooks, participating in fundraisers and more.
The first weeks of school, pages, spreads, and sections will be assigned; theme picked, 1,2,3
curriculum activities assigned, tests given on terms learned; passwords assigned; work on YearTech on-
line (to understand program)ESPECIALLY to learn how to use the program to index your photos and
make sure all spellings are correct and many other yearbook details that must be done before any
creating can begin. HOWEVERalways be out there taking pictures
Deadlines will be posted as soon as we receive them. Missing deadlines costs us money,
inconveniences everyone, adds to everyones stress, and sets back our final delivery date. DO NOT
MISS DEADLINES. Plan ahead for copy and photos. Way ahead. Leave plenty of room for SEVERAL
proofreading sessions. Plan to print pages several times before you are finished with a page. Have
several people help you proofread for errors!
You will have a checklist to follow for each of your pages. Pay close attention. Before being sent to
the plant, all pages must be printed and given to the advisor for final proofreading. Missing items,
incorrect items, spelling and punctuation errors , and other errors will cost you points off your grade for
that page. Our goal is a clean, error-free yearbook of which you can be proud. Errors reflect poorly on
the entire staff.
You will be expected to verify every fact, every name, every item on your pages. You are responsible
for your pages. If you are unsure about something, look it up in a dictionary, the Associated Press style
guide, or keep asking. Your final page printout is like a test; you earn your grade based on clean, well-
designed, error free pages.
YOU EITHER MAKE YOU DEADLINE OR YOU DO NOTNO EXCUSES! YOU WILL GET AN F
IF YOU DO NOT MAKE YOUR DEADLINE!
It is your job, not mine or any other staff member to make your deadline for you.
