The purpose of this course is to introduce elementary design concepts related to aerodynamics,
flight performance, propulsion, and aerospace structures. At the center of this course are 12, 1-
hour lectures dedicated to covering the basics of these topics. The course also relies heavily on
laboratory settings and focuses on basic machine shop proficiency, experimental facilities, and
computer laboratories to introduce word processing, spreadsheet analysis, computer aided design
(A!", and documentation. A team design pro#ect, involving analysis, construction and testing,
will comprise a large portion of the course content.
