Wormwood Falls on the Rivers, The Churches are Polluted
by Kristie Johnson from Mystery Babylon, the Great Defender of Israel A Search for America in Bible Prophecy
There is a reference to wormwood in Revelation that is part of the Third Trumpet sounding. It is called a great star that falls from heaven. It pollutes the waters and causes death. Reading the verses one could conclude that Wormwood is an asteroid or meteor. But is there more meaning behind this symbol? Revelation 8:10-11, 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. There are many theories about the meaning of the term worm- wood. It is important to examine the scriptures elsewhere for more insight into the meaning of these symbols of the Third Trumpet. In this way one can hope to find the message of the trumpet. In the book of Jeremiah, the term wormwood is used by the prophet Jeremiah to describe the condemnation of the false prophets of Israel and the children of Israel who choose to follow their lies. Notice that God says He will feed them with wormwood and give them water of gall to drink, in the following verses: Jeremiah 9:15-16, 15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. 16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them. Jeremiah 23:14-32, 14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. 15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land. 16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. 17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. 18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? 19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly. 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. 23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. 25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. 28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. 29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? 30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. 31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. 32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD. The above passages tell of Gods condemnation of the lies of the prophets. The above are two of the very few references to wormwood in the Bible. Revelation has the other references to wormwood. The connection to these verses is important. (Update: I have done more research into wormwood and have learned that wormwood, a type of herb, is known for the power to produce hallucinations and a state of confusion. It has a very bitter taste. It has been used as an ingredient in a liquor called Absinth which is illegal for use in the USA due to its dangerous properties. The significance becomes clear as we consider the warnings of the Bible concerning wormwood as it relates to spiritual deception. Please be sure to watch the video linked later in this Chapter concerning the false spiritual manifestations now occurring in many churches.) The Bible often uses terminology suggesting that a prophet is to eat the written word of God such as in a scroll or book before the prophet tells the people Gods message. It is symbolic of the prophet digesting the truth of Gods Word then preaching it. For example Ezekiel 2:9-3:3, 9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; 10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. 1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. 2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. When God says He will feed the prophets, and therefore the people, with wormwood, He means that He will allow the prophets to preach lies and the people to believe lies. He does this because they would not have ears to hear the truth of His Word. This symbolism appears in Revelation when the great star falls from heaven onto the third rivers and fountains of waters. If the meaning is similar, than it appears that one third of these waters become polluted by falsehood. The lies lead to bitterness and death. It seems that the lies are coming from false prophets and target the rivers. Rivers and foun- tains of waters are symbolic sources of life both physical and spiritual in the Bible. (Update: Several new movements in the Christian Church are leading some unsuspecting Christians into error. Some self- proclaimed prophets are attempting to direct both Churches and individuals with their words which they claim come from God. However, the standard for being a prophet of the Lord does not allow for these kinds of mistakes and presumption we can see in a video of Cindy Jacobs prophesying over the pastor of a large church in the Philippines. She literally sent him into an unsuccessful campaign to attempt to become the President of the Philippines. Many in the church were discouraged and confused over these events inspired by a so-called prophet of God. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAW_sl0MRDc ) Jeremiah 2:11-13, 11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. 12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. 13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. Waters, rivers, have also been used to describe the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the body of Christians who are baptized in the Holy Spirit. John 7:37-38, 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Since the Holy Spirit could never be the source of lies or pollution, it would have to be referring to a counterfeit evil spirit that begins to influence some who pose as Believers and followers of Jesus Christ, or the God of Israel. Perhaps there will be some in the churches who pose as prophets or ministers of the Lord, but they are false prophets who preach false doctrines which lead to destruction of those who follow them.
(Update: At the time I wrote this, I questioned myself as to how such a thing could really happen? Like many things I wrote in my book, I prayed I might be proven wrong on this issue. But then I discovered some very disturbing things that had developed in the Charismatic Movement of the Christian Church. I urgently plead with you to please watch this revealing and well documented video exposing the manifestation of a false spirit which appears to be a new kind of counterfeit to the Holy Spirit. This has spirit has invaded the Christian Church beginning in the 1990s. Many leaders of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements are being deceived into promoting these false manifestations which are replacing the true movement of the Holy Spirit and operation of the Gifts of the Spirit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbVYalAE5-8 ) For more details on these new movements within some, in fact many Christian Churches today, visit the Apostasy Videos page: http://www.endtimesinamerica.org/apostasy-videos.html
