Why do we offer Salat?

The building of Islam consists of five pillars.

These five pillars are:-
Salat
Fasting
Pilgrim (Hajj)
Charity ( Zakat)
Jihad

Salat is one of the
important pillars. It must
be offered by the
followers. The first
question which will be
asked at the Day of
Judgment will be about
Salat. It is an individuals
spiritual worship.

Why do we offer Salat?

Salat has so much importance as:-

It is an important pillar of Islam. Without it the building of Islam cannot be in
order.
It is an important worship not a custom. It is very special not a ritual. There is no
alternate of this worship. There is no excuse to leave it even you are ill or in the
field of battle.
It is the only worship which makes the difference between a Muslim and a Non-
Muslim.
It is that worship which gives the sign of obedience of Allah Almighty.
It is a worship which makes the connection of a man with Allah Almigthy.
Salat is the Miraj of the Momin. Momin meets with Allah in Namaz.
Salat gives us the reminder of Allah Almighty. When we become busy in our
works Salat gives us the reminder that come toward Allah. This word in
temporary. You have to leave this world so prepare yourself for the next world
which is the place of permanent living.
Salat has this power to make us able to avoid all the sins. This worship keeps us
away from all the sins.
This spiritual worship wipes out our sins. Prophet Muhammad (SAAWS) once
asked his companions Tell me if there was a river at the door step of one of
you in which you washed 5 times a day would any of your dirt remain? When
he received the reply that none of it would remain he then said That is like the
5 times Salah, with which Allah (SWT) wipes out sin.
The last will of the Beloved Prophet( PBUH) was namaz. When he was taking
His last breaths He was saying As Salah As Salah.
The first Question which will be asked on the Day of judgment will be about
Salat. If a person has done good deeds in all his life but he did not offer Salat His
destination will be Hell which is worst place.

Importance of Salat in Quran and Hadith

In Quran it is said that:-

And, those who patiently persevere seeking their Lords countenance, attend to the Prayers,
expend out of what We have provided them, secretly and openly, and ward off evil with good;
they, for them is the Ultimate Abode.

At another place it is said that:-

Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and perform the Prayer (assiduously and
spiritedly) verily, Prayer forbids the indecent and the reprehensible. Surely, Allahs
remembrance is greater. Allah knows the (deeds) that you commit.

It is narrated by Jarir Ibn E Abdullah that:-

The angel Gabriel came to the Messenger of Allah and said to him, "Stand and pray," and
they prayed the noon prayer when the sun had passed its meridian. He then came to him for
the afternoon prayer and said, "Stand and pray," and they prayed the afternoon prayer while
the length of a shadow of something was similar to the length of the object. Then he came at
sunset and said, "Stand and pray," and they prayed the sunset prayer when the sun had just
disappeared. Then he came at night and said, "Stand and pray," and they prayed the night
prayer when the twilight had disappeared. He came again when dawn broke (and they prayed
the morning prayer). Then Gabriel came on the next day at noon and said (to the Messenger
of Allah), "Stand and pray," and they prayed the noon prayer when the length of the shadow
of something was close to the length of the object. Then he came for the afternoon prayer and
said, "Stand and pray," and they prayed when the shadow of something was twice as long as
the length of the object. Then he came at the same time (as the previous day) for the sunset
prayer, without any change. Then he came for the night prayer after half of the night had
passed ("or," he said, "one-third of the night"). Then he came when the sky was very yellow
and said, "Stand and pray," and they prayed the morning prayer. Then Gabriel said,
"Between these times are the times for the prayers."

At one place it is said in Quran that:-

Verily I, I am Allah. There is no god but; therefore worship Me, and perform the Prayers for
My remembrance.

So it is obligatory to offer the Salah regularly. We should not leave it on choice while doing the
worldly affairs. May Allah guide us to walk on a right path and make us active in obeying your
command (Amen)
