Truthfulness - The Quality of Prophets and Pious Men

Allah says in Quran that:-

O you who believe! Have fear of God, and be among the truthful.

Being truth gives the meaning of communicating the true things plus stating stuff that indicate
actuality. To speak the truth is the necessity of every society. It is one of the virtues of a man. Lie
is the major reason of the destruction of every society. Truth has so much power in itself.

Islam wants to finish the brutality, injustice and cruelty from the society. Islam wants to
establish the system of peace and justice. To speak the truth is a precious personal value.
Truthfulness has this quality to maintain the peace, prosperity and the happiness in a society. All
the religions of the whole world put a great emphasis on the great values. These all religions of
the world make promise with its follower to get a great gift here in this world and an everlasting
gift in the other world in the reward of those great values. In Quran it is said that:-

God has prepared for the men and women who speak truth forgiveness and a
vast reward.

This verse of Quran shows that a reward is ready for those who speak truth. Allah will forgive
those who speak truth. When he will forgive then its a best reward. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)
Said that when a person speaks truth he goes toward the right path. This thing is also mentioned
in Ahadith. If a person makes a lie he goes toward the false path. This false path leads him
toward the hell which is worst place.
To speak truth is the quality of the prophets and the pious men. It is also mentioned in Quran
that:-

Abraham: surely he was a most truthful Prophet.

Lying creates a lot problem in the society. The person who tells a lie lost the trust. No one
believes on him. It is big sin in Islam and all other religion. When we speak truth may be we feel
the troubles for some time but later on we get a great reward. May be you speak truth to avoid
the trouble for the short period of time. This one lie can put you in to a trouble for the long
period of time. Momin does not make a lie because He has Imaan in His heart. He considers
that lie is a big sin. The person who has good character cant make a lie and always speaks the
truth which is the quality of prophets and pious men. Holy prophet (PBUH) said that when a
person makes lie he gives the sign of the Munafiq. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that truth
is that virtue that leads you toward the paradise and lie is that sin which leads you toward hell. At
another place Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that a person makes lie until Allah writes His
name Lier and the destination of a Lier is Hell.

It is reported that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and confessed of so many
vices like theft, telling lies, drunkenness, and adultery etc. So he has arrived with the desire to
be reformed and but at the same time he was not ready to give up his bad habits. The Prophet
urged the said person to give up just one bad habit i.e. telling a lie. The man promised to
follow the instructions of the Prophet. After coming home he tried/desired to drink, stone and
commit other sins. But when the thought came to his mind what he would answer when the
Prophet asked him about his doings, would he have had to tell the truth but could he dare to
tell the Prophet about his drinking and face him without shame? So, this thought prevents him
from all the sins. The next morning he went to the Prophet and told him that he was lucky
enough to be relieved of all his sins merely by way of truthfulness.

We should not tell a lie in order to make anyone happy. We should try to speak truth at any cost.
We should try to please Allah Almighty. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) told the six things which
can lead you toward paradise and these six things are:-
Always speak the truth
Always fulfill your promises
Whenever you are trusted by someone always be faithful with that person.
Always safeguard your private parts.
Always lower your gaze.
Dont harm others with your hands or tongue.

So here the map toward paradise has given by the Beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
In this map one turn is toward truth. So the choice is yours that what you have to follow and
what you should not. May Allah help us and give us strength to walk on the right path (Amen).
