Learning Objectives
All learning objectives should have these key characteristics:

REALISTIC
EASY TO
UNDERSTAND
ACTION VERB
LINKED TO
ASSESSMENT
TIME: Can it be achieved in a class?
DIFFERENTIATED: Can all students
achieve them?
The objective should be stated on
the board SIMPLY and in student
friendly language
What precisely are they being asked
to DO? e.g. LIST, DESCRIBE, LABEL,
COMPARE
Avoid know, learn, understand
as these dont define what the
student will be able to do.
Verbs should be linked to level of
thinking in BLOOMS TAXONOMY

All questions in class, homework,
activities and tests are based on the
learning objectives.
The students can then see the
benefit of learning them.
