Purpose:
The purpose of the SOP is to train & guide OPGC personnel, to ensure for safe journey
during traveling.

Responsibii!":
Safety Officer / Fire Officer are responsile to train and guide OPGC personnel during
depart!ental safety audit / safety a"areness !eetings.
Tr#$ein% Tips:
&.HA'E A CLEAR HEAD:
#a$e sure you al"ays have a clear head efore deciding to operate a !otor vehicle.
%lcohol and certain drugs, oth illegal and legal, can severely i!pair your driving s$ills.
#any prescription and over&the&counter !edications can cause dangerous dro"siness.
Get a good night's rest and don't drive for long stretches "ithout a rea$. (f you are tired,
don't ris$ the safety of yourself and others on the high"ay y trying to drive. )ust as "ith
alcohol&&designate a driver or choose another !eans of transportation such as ta*ica or
pulic transportation.

(f you are ta$ing any !edications, e sure to read and oey the "arning laels. (f the
lael says the !edication causes dro"siness or not to drive&&heed the "arning and don't
drive. The "arnings are there for a reason. Consult "ith your doctor or phar!acist if you
have any -uestions or to as$ aout !edications for your condition that don't cause
dro"siness.

7. TIPS ,OR NIGHT DRI'ING:
Traffic death rates are three ti!es greater at night than during the day, yet !any of us
are una"are of night driving ha,ards.

reasons is dar$ness. 4inety percent of a driver's reaction depends on vision, and vision
is severely li!ited at night. +epth perception, color recognition and peripheral vision "ill

Fatigue also adds to the danger of night driving. +ro"siness !a$es driving !ore difficult
y dulling concentration.
