INSPECTION METHOD STATEMENT

FOR TAKING OVER PURPOSE

Introduction:

This method statement is prepared to reveal the procedure of Inspection for the
purpose of Taking over the works as described for --------------- in the Particular
specifications to apply for ------------------------------ in conjunction with the Process
Summary that is submitted under references:-------------------------------- and the
Engineer's reference: ------------------------------for the same subject.

Scope of Work:

This method statement shall be applied for the following elements which are forming
the Works in both Sectors (1) and (3): Main Sewer Pipes, Manholes, Rider Sewer &
House Connections, Fiber Optic Ducts with diameters 110mm and 25 mm and its
Draw pits chambers.

These elements shall be inspected as demonstrated in the Engineer's aforementioned

reference and summarized as follows:

• Sewer Pipes and manholes visual inspection,

• Main sewer manholes water tightness testing randomly,
• Sewer lines flow testing,
• Flow Testing of the connection between Main sewer line and House
Connection & Rider Sewer System,
• FOC ducts and Draw pit chambers visual inspection,
• Temporary Reinstatement, and
• Site Clearance.

Method Statements:

General:

It is described, herein below, the required inspection procedure for each element in
detailed based on the target of each element and its function. The applied method
statements shall be implemented according to the sub-zones order which were given
under the Contractor's aforementioned references.

Sewer Pipes and manholes visual inspection:

The visual inspection of the Sewer Pipes and Manholes is a primary inspection for the
physical condition of the Sewer Pipes status and manholes.

The procedure for visual inspection is as follows:

1. Define the Sewer Branch according to the As-Built Drawing

2. Apply Safety measures around the defined location of the Sewer
branch

3. Open Covers for both Manholes of upstream and downstream.
4. Check the Manholes are clean from debris.
5. Check the Manholes are dry.
6. Check the information incorporated in the As-Built (invert levels and
coordinates).
7. Check any damage inside the Manholes
8. Check by Mirror and Flash light the Pipe cleaning.
9. Check for backdrops (if any).
10. Fill in the inspection check list as shown in the Appendix.
11. In case of snags, incorporated in the snag list.

Main sewer manholes water tightness testing as approved by the Engineer to be

randomly:

The purpose of this testing is to check the sustainability of the workmanship against
any leakage that may occur in the future, precisely the connection between the
Manhole and the Sewer pipe.

The procedure for water tightness testing shall be randomly with a percentage of 5% ~
10 % from the total number of the Main sewer branches as per the Engineer's
requirement.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Define the Sewer Branch according to the As-Built Drawing.

2. Apply Safety measures around the defined location of the Sewer
branch
3. Open Covers for both Manholes of upstream and downstream.
4. Plug the upstream Manhole inlet.
5. Plug the downstream Manhole outlet.
6. Mark inside both upper stream and down stream Manholes for the
required Water level.
7. Fill water inside Upper stream Manhole where the water will run
downward to the downstream Manhole.
8. Keep filling the trench until the Water reached the required level in
both Manholes.
9. Stop filling by water.
10. Monitor the water level for a quarter of hour (15 minute).
11. Check the Water level stableness.
12. Mark any displacement in the Inspection sheet.
13. Empty the Manholes after finishing the Water tightness test.
14. Close the manhole covers and remove all the safety measures after
finishing.

Main Sewer lines flow testing:

The purpose of this test is to check the slopping of the Sewer branch.

The Procedure is as follows:

1. Define the Sewer Branch according to the As-Built Drawing.
2. Apply Safety measures around the defined location of the Sewer
branch
3. Open Covers for several Manholes of one line.
4. Make one person stand at the Upstream Manhole (the beginning of the
line) and another at the Downstream Manhole (the end of the line)
5. Start to flow water inside the Upstream Manhole with an inspection in
the same time for the Downstream Manhole.
6. Check the speed of the flow visually comparing to the flowed water.
7. Write down your comments in the Inspection check list.
8. Remove water from inside the Line.
9. Close the manhole covers.
10. Close the manhole covers and remove all the safety measures after
finishing.

Flow Testing of the connection between Main sewer line and House Connection
& Rider Sewer System:

1. Define the required connection as per the As-Built Drawing.

2. Apply safety measures around the defined location.
3. Open Covers of Manholes between.
4. Start to flow water inside the Upstream Manhole with an inspection in
the same time for the Downstream Manhole.
5. Check the speed of the flow visually comparing to the flowed water.
6. Write down your comments in the Inspection check list.
7. Remove water from inside the Line.
8. Close the manhole covers.
9. Close the manhole covers and remove all the safety measures after
finishing.

Note: Mirror Test may be applied as per the Engineer's requirement.

FOC ducts and Draw pit chambers visual inspection:

This inspection is requested to verify visually of the Physical conditions to the FOC
ducts and Draw pit chambers for its purpose fitness.

The Procedure is as follows:

1. Define the FOC line according to the As-Built Drawing.

2. Apply Safety measures around the defined location of the FOC line
and its Draw pit chambers
3. Open Covers for several Draw pit chambers in one line.
4. Check the Chamber is clean from any debris
5. Check the Chamber is dry.
6. Check for the inside ropes and make a shaken pull to the rope to find
any closed ducts.
7. Check the connection between the 25 mm connection with the F.O.C.
Draw Pit.

8. Check for any defects may exist.
9. Write down your comments in the Inspection check list.
10. Close the Draw pit chambers covers and remove all the safety
measures.

Temporary Reinstatement and site clearance:

This inspection shall be visually for the assurance of complete temporary

reinstatement and site clearance for the traffic and customers ease of movement.

The Procedure is as follows:

1. Define the location of checking (route alignments for Sewer, FOC

lines)
2. Check the site conditions.
3. Check for any debris or stock piles existence.
4. Check the backfilled sections.
5. Check road crossing status (if any).
