Q. What is included in a Core package?
A. vCloud Hybrid Service Core packages include all the service
components required to provision your service, but the
capacities are different for Dedicated Cloud and Virtual
Private Cloud. The capacities for each are as follows:
CAPACI TY SERVI CE COMPONENT
Dedicated Cloud Core
120 GB vRAM
30 GHz vCPU
Dedicate Cloud Compute
6TB Dedicate Cloud Storage
50 Mbps Dedicate Cloud Bandwidth
3 Dedicate Cloud Public IP Addresses
24x7x365 Dedicate Cloud Production Support
Virtual Private Cloud Core
20 GB vRAM
5 GHz vCPU
(burst to 10GHz)
Virtual Private Cloud Compute
2TB Virtual Private Cloud Storage
10 Mbps Virtual Private Cloud Bandwidth
2 Virtual Private Cloud Public IP Addresses
24x7x365 Virtual Private Cloud Production Support
Q. What do you mean by capacity?
A. Capacity is the amount of pooled resources available for
allocation to your applications. You arent limited to pre-
defined virtual machine sizes, but instead you can create
virtual machines of arbitrary sizes, expand them as needed,
and decommission them so their resources can be reallocated
to other applications.
As long as you are within your capacity limits, there are no
restrictions on things like the number of virtual machines
you can deploy, the amount of disk i/o you consume, or the
amount of data transferred through your Internet connection.
Q. When I need more capacity than what is included in a Core,
how do I add it?
A. Service components can be purchased a la carte and added
to your cloud when you need them.
When growing your service, a la carte capacity is available in
pre-dened units. Order however many units you need to
grow your cloud to the appropriate size. Think of them as the
building blocks you use to build your cloud.
Q. What is VMware vCloud Hybrid Service?
A. VMware vCloud Hybrid Service is a secure, dedicated
hybrid cloud service operated by VMware, giving your IT
organization a common platform to seamlessly extend your
data center to the cloud.
Q. What are the service components of vCloud Hybrid
Service?
A. All vCloud Hybrid Service clouds have compute (vRAM and
vCPU), storage, bandwidth, and public IP address resources
that can expand in a self-service model.
Both service types include built-in redundancy, high availability,
rewalling, load balancing, NAT, DHCP, IPsec VPN, and disk
I/O at no additional charge.
Q. What are the diferent service types for vCloud Hybrid
Service?
A. vCloud Hybrid Service ofers two service options - Dedicated
Cloud and Virtual Private Cloud - which are dedicated and
multi-tenant options, respectively. Depending on the type
of applications you are looking to deploy, configuration
requirements, and contractual terms required you can select
the appropriate service that meets your needs.
Q. How do I get started with my rst cloud in vCloud Hybrid
Service?
A. To start your rst vCloud Hybrid Service cloud you need to
order a Core package. A vCloud Hybrid Service Core includes
all the service components needed to provision your new
cloud and is only used when you want to order a new service
instance.
Prior to ordering your Core package, you will need to answer
several important questions:
Which service do you need - Dedicated Cloud or Virtual
Private Cloud?
How much capacity do you need?
Which data center is the right one for you? With multiple
data centers available in the United States in 2013, and
expanding globally in 2014, you will need to select a data
center as part of your service request.
How long do you want your subscription to last? Depending
on the service you select, there are diferent subscription
durations.
How frequently do you want to pay? Being a subscription
service, many customers prefer paying on a monthly
basis. However, you have the option to prepay the entire
subscription term at the beginning of your contract.

Q. Does add-on subscription capacity co-term with my
existing subscription contract?
A. Yes. When you add subscription capacity to your cloud it will
always co-term with your Core contract date and everything
will be invoiced at the same time.
Q. Does my pricing change as I purchase add-ons for my
cloud instance?
A. Yes. As you purchase more compute, storage, and support we
have volume price reductions that not only apply to the new
capacity added, but also to the remaining unbilled portion of
your cloud instance subscription term.
Q. Can I have more that one cloud instance?
A. Absolutely. In fact, as your needs grow it is possible for you to
have multiple instances with varying capacities.
When you need a separate cloud all you have to do is order
another Core for the type of service you need. Each time a
new Core is ordered, a new cloud will be provisioned with a
new unique identier (referred to as a Service ID SID) and it
will have its own contract duration and end date. You can then
add more capacity to your new cloud just like you did with
your rst instance.
Q. How do I order my rst Core?
A. After youve decided which vCloud Hybrid Service ofering
ts your needs you can work with one of the select VMware
Solution Providers authorized for the service. To find an
authorized Solution Provider call 1-877-4VMWARE (outside
North America, +1-650-427-5000) or visit the VMware vCloud
Web page at http://vcloud.vmware.com
Q. How do I order additional capacity?
A. Your existing My VMware experience has been expanded to
include a new Subscription Services portal. This new portal
enables you to manage your subscriptions, review your
purchasing history, initiate self-service transactions, and
control the renewal process for your subscriptions. The portal
provides a quick and simple way for you to increase your
capacity subscription, while still maintaining your relationship
with the VMware partner you are already working with.
If you prefer issuing a purchase order for the additional
capacity please contact the Solution Provider partner you
worked with to establish your initial order.
Q. Where can I nd detailed pricing information for vCloud
Hybrid Service?
A. Visit http://vcloud.vmware.com or contact one of the
authorized VMware Solution Providers for more details.
For example, if you have a Dedicated Cloud and need an
additional 12TB of storage you would order two units of
Dedicated Cloud Storage.
Of course, if you know you need the 12TB of Storage capacity
when youre initially setting up your cloud, you can always add
it to your Core subscription order.
Here is how each of those units is dened for both Dedicated
Cloud and Virtual Private Cloud:
CAPACI TY SERVI CE COMPONENT
Dedicated Cloud Components
120 GB vRAM
30 GHz vCPU
Dedicate Cloud Compute
6TB Dedicate Cloud Storage
50 Mbps Dedicate Cloud Bandwidth
1 Dedicate Cloud Public IP Addresses
24x7x365 Dedicate Cloud Production Support
Virtual Private Cloud Components
20 GB vRAM
5 GHz vCPU
(burst to 10 GHz)
Virtual Private Cloud Compute
2TB Virtual Private Cloud Storage
10 Mbps Virtual Private Cloud Bandwidth
1 Virtual Private Cloud Public IP Addresses
24x7x365 Virtual Private Cloud Production Support
Note: Production Support is included in your Core package,
however for each Compute resource added to your instance a
Support unit will always need to be added as well.
Q. What are the service subscription durations for the two
oferings?
A. One of the advantages of vCloud Hybrid Service is that it is a
term-based subscription service, which results in predictable
billing for your subscriptions. This means when you sign up
for capacity you also select how long you want that capacity
subscription term to be, and you know exactly how much your
monthly subscription bill will be.
Dedicated Cloud capacity is available in 12, 24, and 36 month
subscriptions, while Virtual Private Cloud is available in 3 and
12 month subscriptions. The service is currently not available
for shorter contract durations. Both services are available for
inclusion on ELAs.
