Sabre gun platform
The sabre gun platform is an STC
weapons system designed for
defence and static emplacement in
the Anti air role. It can however
be effectively deployed against
ground targets.
The platform can be fitted with a
range of weapons including:
-Heavy Stubbers pair and quad.
-Heavy Bolters
-Autocannon
Sabre platforms are manufactured
on several major and minor Forge
worlds.
Variants to the design can be
observed and are attributable to
redistribution and conservative
use of resources.
Sabre platforms are distributed
widely in Guard, Naval ground
forces and Planetary Defence
Force units.
Intensive training is required
when the system is deployed in
the AA role if munitions
expenditure is to be effectively
managed

STC instructions
In order to supply an army
with Sabre platforms the
Fabricator will need to
requisition the following
Components from stores;
-40mm figure base
-Embossed plasticard- Lattice
or Tread plate
-A length of sprue at least
100/120mm
-A length plastic tube or rod
2mm Dia.
-A City of Death Lamp Post
-Baneblade smoke dispenser
mounting.
-A choice of weapon;
Heavy Bolter- from the SOB
immolator kit ( a great
source of Bits! Especially
if all you want is a
standard Rhino- the extra
cost is worth it)
Heavy Stubbers- From the
Shadowsword/Stormlord kit.
-A selection of plastic rod.
-Sights from the Ork boys
sprue
-Cadian/Catachan heavy weapon
arms ( for the bolter etc)
And of course legs, torso and
head for the crewman.

Fabrication Stage 1: The Base

Drill a hole through the centre
of the 40mm base. The hole wants
to be of a size to accommodate
the plastic rod that the
fabricator is using. Brass rod
or tube may be used which will
give a stronger joint.
Glue the 40mm base to the
embossed plasticard and allow it
to dry (overnight ideally) .
Cut round the base and sand to
ensure a nice even disc. Drill
through the hole created earlier
and through the plasticard.

Stage 2.
Cut the sprue into roughly 30mm
long lengths and then cut the
ends at an angle like so.

Stage 3.
Glue the legs to the base. In
order to ensure that the legs
are evenly spaced round the base
form an equilateral triangle
around the hole that has been
drilled in the middle as shown
in image 3. At this stage if the
fabricator has the resources
pads may be added to the legs.
Plasticard of an appropriate
thickness and a hole punch will
achieve the required effect.

Fabrication Stage 4: The Gun
support

The fabricator should cut the
base off the lamp post ensuring
a straight clean cut.
A further cut in the location
shown on image 4 is required in
order for the gun support post
be the correct height.
Drill the bottom of the post to
accept a length of plastic rod
or tube ensuring that it is long
enough to pass through the top
and bottom of the base.

Stage 5.
Once dry (again overnight
ideally) it may be installed to
the base. If the fabricator
wishes the gun mount to rotate
the post should not be glued.

Stage 6.
The smoke grenade discharger
support from the Baneblade or
Shadowsword is added to the top
of the post. This will support
the gun mount.

Fabrication Stage 7: The Gun
mount

The example shown here is for
the heavy bolter.
2 lengths of plastic rod were
cut and glued into place. One in
the holes in the bolters (where
they join the Turret of the
immolator). The other, of a
smaller diameter to the rear.
The heavy weapons arms will
attach to this.
Stage 8.
Add a length of T- bar level
with the ammo hoppers and add
one of the Ork sights or
something similar.
An Auspex could be used towards
the rear of the gun if a more
sophisticated sighting system
was called for.

Stage 9.
Glue the guns to the support
post and the crewman to the
guns.
Success Fabricator! Now return
to your stores and start a
production line. Additional
detail may be added to taste.
Notably the Ork sprues provide
empty cases both as they are
ejected from the gun or in a
pile on the floor.
