Dear Friends: August 2014

The July 15
th
kick-off food drive was a HUGE success! We received over 4,000 pounds of food and more than
$5,000 in cash donations at the four drop-off mall locations in Fresno/Clovis. Donations were delivered to local
communities in need of assistance. But our work isnt done; we still need your generous donations and
sponsorships to take this one step further.

We know that California Water Feeds Our Communities throughout our state. So, Mark your calendar for
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2014. Part of our goal is to send truckloads of locally-donated food and personal
hygiene items (see flyer for more details) to communities across the state that are also affected by the drought.
This is our opportunity to help those in regions who also rely on the food produced by our farming community.
Our goal is to provide relief not only to our local food banks, but to food banks outside of our region for
distribution in Merced, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Watsonville, Salinas, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Riverside and San
Diego. Your financial and in-kind donations are needed to address this truly statewide crisis.

Without a doubt, the drought is making history due to the devastating effects it is causing to farming, families and
communities. We have an opportunity to make history with the largest food drive to directly benefit those in
