NOTICE is hereby given that: In pursuance of
section 35(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act
1981 and all other powers enabling them in that
behalf, Natural England has, by the Cotswolds
Commons and Beechwoods National Nature
Reserve No. 5 Declaration 2014 made on the 28
day of July 2014, declared the land referred to
therein a National Nature Reserve.
The land having a total area of 17.9 hectares or
thereabouts, situated in the parish of Miserden in
the county of Gloucestershire and shown single
hatched and shaded yellow on the map attached
to the said Declaration is held by Butterly
Conservation, a body approved by Natural England,
and is being managed as a nature reserve.
Natural England is satisied that the said land is of
national importance.
Certiied copies of the Cotswolds Commons
and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve No. 5
Declaration 2014 have been deposited for public
inspection free of charge for one month during
normal ofice hours at the ofices of Gloucester
County Council, Stroud District Council and at the
ofices of Natural England at Block B Government
Buildings, Whittington Road, Worcester, WR5 2LQ.

2 with his Surruralism ex-
hibition, showcasing new
canvases, watercolours and
paintings, which have been
inspired by locations around
the Cotswolds.
Rural surrealism, or
surruralism has become my
main area of painting, he
said.
It started in 2005 when I re-
alised I had built up enough
experience to create land-
scapes and architectural
detail from my own imagi-
nation, released from the re-
straints of gravity and com-
mon sense.
This avenue has opened
up amazing possibilities of
exploration.

Britains sculptors on display
THE biggest names in
contemporary sculpture
are coming together in
one of the largest ex-
hibitions in the UK, at
Gloucester Cathedral.
Crucible2 will display
100 sculptures by 61 art-
ists, many of whom are
Britains most renowned
sculptors and interna-
tionally famous artists
including Damien Hirst,
Lynn Chadwick, Antony
Gormley, Kenneth Armit-
age and Jon Buck.
The sculptures will be
placed throughout the ca-
thedral and its grounds,
setting these modern
pieces of art against a
magnificent historical
building. The exhibition
opens on Monday, Sep-
tember 1 and will run un-
til October 31.
Crucible2 is jointly or-
ganised by Gloucester
Cathedral and Gallery
Pangolin and will be com-
pletely free of charge, so
everyone can enjoy and
experience some of the
most exceptional sculp-
ture produced in the past
50 years.

Fear that grades
wont be enough
WITH GCSE results released this
week, a report has found that 93
per cent of young people are wor-
ried good grades wont be enough
to secure a job.
The report from The Duke of Edin-
burghs Award highlights that achiev-
ing their grades is not their only wor-
ry, with many reported to feel under
pressure and concerned about having
the right skills to secure a job after
education.
An overwhelming 93 per cent of
the DofE participants surveyed, who
were expecting exam results this
summer, reported feeling under pres-
sure to demonstrate not just their
academic achievements to potential
employers but also that they will be
an all-rounder in the workplace.
They believe that as well as academ-
ic performance, employers now ac-
tively look for evidence of soft skills,
such as commitment, teamwork and
self-management, and are feeling
under pressure to be able to demon-
strate these skills as a result.
With the job market for entry-level
positions remaining highly competi-
tive, young people are looking for
ways to differentiate themselves from
other candidates.
Just over 80 per cent believed that
completing their DofE Award would
make it easier for them to get a job.
