Canon is a world leader in imaging products and solutions for the digital home and
ofce. In Australia, the company is bringing innovation to businesses through full-service
business solutions, which include multifunctional printers, Managed Document Services,
and nancial services. Canon recently faced the challenge of creating a unied sales order
management system.
Heres the problem. The 200 Canon sales professionals in Australia responsible for
business solutions rely on Salesforce CRM for their selling strategy. However, all the other
crucial sales data, including prospects, sales orders, and devices deployed out in the eld
resided in Oracle E-Business Suite, the companys enterprise resource planning (ERP)
platform. The sales team needed a single view of customers and prospectsand Canon
executives wanted to access comprehensive drill-down reports and analytics for business
performance and planning.
The use of these two separate systems delayed decision making and decreased Canons
ability to respond competitively to sales opportunities and customer needs. It also

had to switch from Salesforce CRM to Oracle to get hold of existing contract information.
