SECURITY SITUATION PAKISTAN- AUG 2014
Month of August has started in Pakistan with a slogan of change and the episode of the
change was witnessed by the country men as the long March of Alama Tahir Ul Qadri and
Imran Khan Chairman PTI has staged series of rallies and Protest originating from the
different parts of the country to the federal capital .The matter has resulted in series of the
incidents which has created a rift among political masses against and in support of the
political revolution in the country.
Pakistans current political crisis is escalating dangerously. Pakistani opposition parties led by
Imran Khans Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and firebrand cleric Tahirul Qadris Pakistan Awami
Tehrik (PAT) have called on their thousands of supporters to march on
and breach Islamabads heavily-fortified Red Zone housing government buildings and
foreign missions. Such an action could bring them into direct conflict with Pakistan Army
forces deployed to protect the zone. In the worst case, that conflict could undermine Nawaz
Sharifs government and destroy the careful balance between civilian and military rule that
he and the Army have painstakingly built over the past year.
The timing of the aforementioned is very much questionable as the country is presently
facing a tenuous security situation. Armed militants are clashing with government security
forces in several provinces. The Taliban and al-Qaeda are resurgent, posing problems for
neighboring Afghanistan .Two major operations named as Zerb-e Azab is under way against
Taliban in Waziristan and the other in Karachi by Law Enforcement.
The basic question boggling their mind of every Pakistani, are these operations going to
bring the violence down in the country and create an environment that can ensure peaceful
existence for the people in the country? or weather the political movement catalyzed by
two leaders named above can bring a positive change in the life of a common man who is
subjected to poverty, energy crises, job lesness and price inflation.
