THE SOFTWARE INSTALLED IN YOUR SYSTEM

This manual is written on the purpose of describing the functioning of the CISA level
80 standard software CS10nvvv for the encoding system, defined the second
generation of encoding system.
However, this manual covers also different versions of software, which is possible to
install in the encoding system in order to obtain different performances.
LEVEL 60
Works like level 80 in the encoding of the cards, with the limitation that the time
control for the lock has 1 hour of tolerance, there is not the HHI and a complete
initialisation of the lock can be performed only by the CISA technical assistance. You
can read this manual with the exception of the HHI chapter.

INTRODUCTION
SUMMARY OF THE SYSTEM FUNCTION

Each time the reception checks-in a guest, a new key card can be made by using the
computerized encoding system.
The guest swipes his card on the lock of his room, activating the lock and accessing
the room.
The following informations are encoded on the card: room number, day and hour of
the check-out. The card can open until the expiry time is reached.
It is possible to encode cards for operators, staffs and other with particular functions.
SUMMARY OF THE SYSTEM FEATURES

In order to access the encoding system, an operator card with the appropriate
personal password is required. This allows only authorized operators to issue cards.
The system operates with recodable magnetic cards.
Lost guest card can be easily replaced. In this way it is not necessary to replace the
mechanical cylinder, which is the only way to keep security in the mechanical
systems. Sliding a new guest card on the lock will invalidate the previous one.
The guest card, which is the same size of a credit card, can be kept by the guest
conveniently, and does not require to be deposited to the front desk each time the
guest leaves the hotel or check-out.
The electronic locks operate independently from each other without wiring
connection and are powered by common alkaline battery.

BASIC TYPE OF CARDS

Guest: can open the specified room until the check-out time is reached. New cards
will invalidate the previous one of the same room.
Staff: can open only during working hours, and disallows when guest is in privacy.

out information from the lock such as the different entries into the room.
HHI can be of two different kinds, as it will be better explained later on: embedded

EMERGENCY CARD
Opens any door (for the opening time of the lock) withdrawing even the dead bolt,
should the guest have drawn it on privacy.
One card for each guest room should be kept at the reception desk safety box
and should be used only in case the encoding system fails, giving them to the
GUEST and must be taken back upon check-out.
Anyway, an emergency card with later beginning of validity will invalidate the
previous one when inserted onto the lock.

DANGER / REVERSAL DANGER CARDS

DANGER: it opens all doors (overriding the privacy as well) and keeps the locks in
the opening state until the reversal danger card is inserted onto the lock. This allows
guest and staff to get out quickly in events of danger and prevents the door from
closing. A new card invalidates earlier cards if it is inserted onto the lock.
REVERSAL DANGER: it reverse the danger function. A newly created card of this
type invalidates the previous ones if it is inserted onto the lock.
NOTE
These cards are valid for ALL the rooms.
ONE SHOT CARD

It is issued in special events (maintenance inside the room) and allows to open the
door only once.
CLC CARD
Allows you to memorize any card (also credit cards) onto the lock as guest card.
CLC cards can be created only for a specified zone.
This will be recorded as memorized cards on the history readout.
HOW TO MEMORIZE A CARD WITH THE CLC

To disable the memorized cards it is necessary to slide a new guest card (with start

Professor is allowed to enter all the student rooms, but students can only enter
individual rooms.
To do this, in each room memorize the professor card and the relative student card.
NOTE
Up to three different cards can be memorized as guest cards with CLC card on each
lock: if you attempt to memorize the fourth card, lock will answer with three red
blinks.

NORMAL
Is a lock for normal guest room and has the following features:
With GUEST cards
Only a guest card (or copies of the same) can have access to it provided that the
following parameters and features are met: plant code, door number, date and time
validity, card not invalidated by another guest card having a later beginning date of
validity, guest card not locked out, card not cancelled;
With STAFF cards
Any staff card is enabled if the lock is in the zone in which the card is allowed,
provided that the following parameter and features are met: plant code, door
belonging to the zone of the card, date and time (as working hours) validity, guest not
in privacy, staff card not locked out, card not cancelled (up to 20 cards can be
cancelled).
COMMON
The common lock can be installed to doors giving access to more rooms on which
normal doors are installed (corridor door). When initializing a group of door numbers
(normal lock) will be set which will be controlled by the common door.
With GUEST cards
Any guest card can have access to it provided that it has been coded for a door
falling within the interval that has been set when configurating the topogical structure.

The parameters and features do not change except for: the latest guest DOES NOT
invalidate an earlier one, possibility to cancel up to 20 guest card + 20 staff card;
With STAFF card
Any staff card can be enabled if the lock belongs to its zone. Parameters which are
controlled do not change as compared to those mentioned with reference to normal
lock .
UTILITY
Are locks giving access to special or pay services. It is possible to associate a utility
lock with every additional service offered by the hotel (SAUNA,GARAGE,FITNESS
ROOM, ...) up to 16. In this way each card is marked by the number of locks it can
open and, in addition, by the labels of those services it can have access to.
LOCK FUNCTIONS
OFFICE FUNCTION
If this function is programmed into the lock, a STAFF card with office function put the
lock in hold open position when swipped twice on the lock.
To return the lock to normal position swipe the card twice again onto the lock.
OVERRIDE PRIVACY
For each card it is possible to select if it can override the privacy. Guest card has
default override privacy, STAFF not. It is possible to have master cards that are
actually a STAFF with override privacy.
TIDY UP FUNCTION
If this function is programmed into the lock, a type 3 STAFF card swiped three times
diasbles the active guest from the lock. This function is useful in case the STAFF has
already cleaned the room at 10:00 am and the guest has already checked out, but
has a card that is valid until 12:00 which is the default checkout time.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST)

The lock and the encoder work with the actual time. They are able to change
automatically the time accordingly to the daylight saving time period for 10 years in
advance, provided they have information about the DST period. For Italy and most of
the EEC country, in fact, the time change usually happens on the last Sunday of
March between 2.00 to 3.00 am and on the last Sunday of October between 3.00 to
2.00 am.
It is possible to edit any record from 0 to 9 (10 years). Once a record is expired it will
be automatically deleted and the table will be shifted from top to bottom.

Hand Held Interrogator

HAND HELD INTERROGATOR

The portable interrogator HHI is a communication interface between the locks and
the encoder. Communication with the lock is made by wire. The wire type depends
on the encoding system: magnetic or with chip-card.

The HHI can be an external device or fully integrated on the encoder. In the second
case it is not possible to connect the encoder in network with any other device except
for special ports.
NOTA
Before using the HHI with a magnetic ALL-WEATHER (for external use) LOCK you
have to switch on the lock following these steps:
1. connect the HHI cable to the lock;
2. slide a card into the reading guide of the lock keeping the magnetic band all
external so that the lock will switch on without reading card data;
3. quickly start the desired operation (initialisation, synchronisation, etc).

If you have more than 1200 rooms you are asked to enter the logical number of the
room from which you want to start uploading initialisation data in order to avoid
memory overflowing (this way it is possible to load the lock initialisation file in two or
more steps and each step allows you to load a maximum of 1200 rooms at a time).

When you have to upgrade to a newer version the software inside the locks, or in
case of lock software loss, you have to download the program onto the locks.
Selecting this function brings you into another menu where you can select if only
download the program, or reset the lock, or reset and download.
RESET LOCK
It will reset the lock.
CLEAR MOTOR ACTIONS
After changing the batteries it is possible to reset the opening counter, which records
the number of openings of the lock, and so can approximatly estimate the battery
status.
It is possible to invalidate the Staff and the Operator cards starting from a specified
date.
SYSTEM MENU
It will display informations about HHI software configuration and print device, and
allows to establish the communication with special locks connected in network (online).
CONNECT TO SPECIAL LOCK
Allows you to perform HHI operations on a special lock that is working in network.
You must use this option before starting the HHI operations on the on-line special
lock: this makes for the on-line special lock the same function as connecting the HHI
cable for a normal lock.
If you want, for example, to read out a history, you have to go to SYSTEM MENU,
select CONNECTION WITH SPECLOCK, select the specified lock you want to
connect with, then you can read the history as normally as in a standard lock.
It allows to select on which printer send data to be printed (if you are in a stand-alone
system the only possibility is the SERVER printer).

HOW LONG A CARD REMAINS IN THE SERVER DATABASE

The cards database has a capacity that depends on the memory size of the Server
(Mirror) encoder. You can check this information on the Encoder Menu System
information option.
However it is guaranteed that until a card is valid, it remains in the database and its
record is locked (it means that can not be overwritten). One day after the card
expires the record is unlocked but it is not overwritten until there is not any other free
space on the database. We can say that all the cards are fully auditable at least one
day after their expiration and probably more (depending on how many cards you
issue). Statistically we have evaluated that until all the operations in the lock are
kept, all the cards remain in the Server.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I PRINT AN AUDIT TRAIL WITH A CARD THAT

HAS BEEN OVERWRITTEN IN THE SERVER DATABASE
Instead of the name of the card owner you will just see UNKNOWN but you will still
see the card serial number (note that a number is the only information you get in
some other locking system even if the card is in the database).
HOW CAN I RETRIEVE THE NAME CONNECTED TO THAT CARD,

AND WHO WHERE AND WHEN THE CARD HAS BEEN ISSUED
You can enable in the Server Menu, inside configuration options, the AUTOPRINTOUT HISTORY which will print automatically to a printer in the security office
all the operations performed over the encoding system. The printout can be used at
anytime to retrieve all the relevant information concerning one particular card (see
printing chapter).

WHY TO INTERFACE WITH PMS?

The interface is able to connect the encoder with the Hotel Management System
Computer allowing the issuing of guest cards or duplicates of issued guest cards.
The advantage of an interface system is to avoid double check-in data input, in order
to achieve great efficiency in operations and giving no risk of data incongruency
between the two systems.

PMS is directly connected to the server encoder by a serial cable without any
interface controller, and the link is enabled selecting the ENABLE PMS-HOST LINK
from the main menu on the encoder.
THE COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

The standard CISA protocol describes the messages that the Hotel management
system computer should send for making a card and the answers that Cisa sends.
The basic data sent by PMS are:
- room number
- guest name
- date and time for the check-in
- date and time for the check-out
- number of copies to issue.

NETWORKING
A network is a group of encoders connected to each other in order to have several
independent issuing points.
All the encoders share the database of the SERVER but the user interface and
functioning of each one remains the same.
The HHI is connected in network when it is connected to the encoding system.

Standard network consists of one SERVER and one or more CLIENTs.
MIRROR OPTION
MIRROR works like a client but has the same memory of the SERVER, with the
capability of duplicate the SERVER database. All the operations performed on the
network are recorded on the SERVER and copied on the MIRROR. In case of
SERVER breakdown the MIRROR resumes the operations and becomes the
SERVER.

SPECIAL LOCKS
The special access control, called also special lock, allows, coupled with a card
reader, to control one access point by using a standard actuation device (electric
strike, electric or motorised lock, etc...). Different access like electrical strike doors,
elevators, car parks, etc. can be controlled on line with the encoder, allowing
access only to the active cards.
Special locks can be initialised as standard CS9560 or CS9580 locks, so as
standard, commonor utility doors.
Due to the different application and to the different hardware used, in the special lock
some parameters has been increased:
black list dimension with 80 positions
history of the last 800 operations on the door
If the special lock is connected on-line, this added features are available:
each time the card is swiped, more than the standard checks (temporal,
geographic, cancellation etc...) are performed, but a real time check on the
encoding system is performed, and the opening is allowed only if the card is still
active in the database (not cancelled and the relevant check-out not performed)

all the operations of the HHI (history read-out, synchronization, etc...) are
performed with the HHI directly connected to the encoding system network,
without moving to the special access control.
The special lock is composed by one Control unit, that can be stand-alone or online depending on the software configuration, and up to 2 card readers, that can be
Standard duty (for internal or protected external use) or Heavy duty (for real external
use). The control unit has RELAY contacts for the output, and the possibility to
connect a back-up external battery, that can provide power to the control unit and the
actuation device (if electrically compatible) in case of main power supply loss.
SOFTWARE FEATURES
The special lock can work:
STAND-ALONE: the special lock will work in the same way of a standard CISA
lock (normal, utility, common) with the exception it will activate a relay. You can
initialise the lock with the HHI as you do for a normal CISA CS9500 lock (a special
cable for communication between HHI and the special lock is necessary).
ON-LINE: the special lock will work on the same network line of the encoders. All
the HHI operations are performed via network from the HHI connected to the
encoding system, selecting on the HHI menu the special lock you want to connect
to instead to move to the lock itself.

Locks are supplied with a varying coding emergency mechanical cylinder which uses
three different keys (each is numbered from 1 to 3). Key number 1 is to be used

OPERATOR CARDS

TROUBLE SHOOTING
LOCK
1) WHICH CARD YOU ARE USING? WHICH LED BLINKS? HOW MANY TIMES?
1 RED = reading error
Slide the card with different speed; Display the card on the encoder to see the
encoding; Clean the reading head.
3 RED = card not valid
Display the card on the encoder; Guest card invalidated from a new one because
copy has been made not with COPY command; Make a history read out to find out
the reason.
3 RED + 1 GREEN = card temporairly not valid
with Staff card: guest in privacy, card out of the working hours, blocked card; with
guest card: blocked card.
3 RED & 3 GREEN = battery low (with Staff card only)
replace the battery.
1 YELLOW = lock program lost
call CISA assistance or replace with a new lock.
2) OPENING ALWAYS ALLOWED
Without passing the card: lock in office function or in danger status.
Passing any card: lock is not initialised.
ENCODER
1) WHICH MESSAGE APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY?
a) READ OPERATOR CARD or PASSWORD
It is necessary to swipe an operator card. Where are they kept? Safe, Reception,
Director, ...
Only with an operator card you can log on to encoder.
b) OTHER MESSAGE
Press ESC several time to log out and start from LOGIN.
c) NO MESSAGES
c1) Are the 3 LED on in the encoder bottom lighted? Yes, it is in software setup,
disconnect the plug, plug in again. If there is still a problem: system needs to be
initialised again: call technical assistance.
c2) Power supply problem.

HHI
1) WHICH MESSAGE APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY?
a) CONNECT TO ENCODER PRESS ANY KEY
Press any key and slide an operator card on the selected encoder. Where are they
kept? Safe, Reception, Director, ...
Only with an operator card you can log on to encoder and enable use of HHI.
b) COMMUNICATION ERROR
Verify the connection with the encoder or the lock.
If you are using the HHI with a magnetic ALL-WEATHER (external) LOCK before
doing any operation you have to switch on the lock following these steps:
1. connect the HHI cable to the lock;
2. slide a card into the reading guide of the lock keeping the magnetic band all
external so that the lock will switch on without reading card data;
3. quickly start the desired operation (initialisation, synchronisation, etc).
c) OTHER MESSAGE
Press ESC several time to log out and start from LOGIN.
d) NO MESSAGES
Power supply or batteries problem.

APPENDIX A

The ENCODER will have to be downloaded with the software CS1Invvv which gives
the following features:
INTEGRATION WITH POINT OF SALE

In this case the CISA software (CS1Invvv) will encode the ISO2 track of the card in a
special format:
CISA binary encryption
14 character in ISO2 standard format

(plus SS,ES,LRC)
In this case:
a standard ISO2 reader will be able to extract from the card the 14 ISO2
characters.
the CISA lock will be able to extract the encrypted part.
The 14 ISO2 characters are sent by the PMS in the folio number (account number)
field.
ACCESS ON PAYMENT
Some special locks hardwired and on line with the encoder might give access to
service on payment (example a sauna, a garage, ...). In this case a credit can be
given to the card at issuing time (see CREDIT). Every time the card is used on a
payment access its credit is decremented by the quantity configured on the door.
The access is denied when there is no more credit for the card. Credits can be read
from the PMS by sending the read command.
LIMITATIONS
With this software version you will have the following limitation for the guest card:
access to only one room, checkout time at full hour (example 12.00 or 13.00 etc.), 8
utility, 8 copies maximum for each guest card.

ENCODING SYSTEM COMPATIBLE WITH FIRST GENERATION

LOCKS
The ENCODER will have to be downloaded with the software CS14nvvv which
makes it compatible with the first generation locks (level 40) keeping the same user
interface of the second generation encoders.
We suggest to read the CS9580 standard user manual having in mind the following
differences:
Issuing of guest cards: it is possible to have a range of rooms to be opened by a
card: FROM ROOM ... TO ROOM... with a maximum of 10 rooms.
Office function, override privacy and tidy up functions do not exist, as well as CLC
card.
The encoder displays the correct time changing from winter to summer time but
the locks work always in winter time (solar time), so the cards have always the
winter time encoded. The winter time will be printed in all printings (example audit
trail) and display of cards (>>READ CARD >>>).
The STAFF cards have only one working shift.
Due to the winter to summer time changes, in order to keep the same time shift
when passing from winter to summer and viceversa, the beginning of the working
shift is always decreased by 1 hour, while the ending remains the same. For the
same reason, the begin of validity of the GUEST card in summer time is
decreased by 1 hour, without changing the end (in this case the card will expire 1
hour later: if you do not wish this, just decrease by 1 hour the default checkout
time during summer time).
Utilities are 8 and start from logical number 2040 as Utility 1.
Emergency cards set: all cards must have the same begin of validity in order to
have the general emergency card; when creating the emergency set you will be
asked to create a new one.
HHI will be connected to the lock by infrared communication link, while there is no
differences in connecting to encoder.

BEDS FUNCTION
This is a special configuration that allows issuing up to 7 guest cards for the same
room with different time validities.
Every new guest card for a bed invalidates the previous one for the same bed; every
new guest card for the whole room invalidates all the guest cards for the single beds.
Every card issued for a single bed has its own account number.

checked out or cancelled separetely and refer to different account numbers.
