Harnett Health and Cape Fear Valley work together to Continue Cancer Services in Dunn

Harnett County, N.C. (July 22, 2014) Harnett Health and Cape Fear Valley Health have come together to establish
outpatient services for cancer patients across from Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.

This is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with Cape Fear Valley Health System, said Ken Bryan, President
and CEO of Harnett Health. Our patients are our priority, and by working together with Cape Fear Valley on this
program, we will be able to meet the needs of cancer patients in Harnett County.

The recent closing of the Dunn location of the Cancer Centers of North Carolina practice last month prompted the
CEOs of the two organizations to see how they could collaborate to provide diagnostic and follow-up cancer care
services to area patients.

We are pleased to be able to provide an important service to cancer patients who would otherwise have a long
drive for care, said Michael Nagowski, CEO of Cape Fear Valley Health. Our nationally recognized cancer program
is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the gold standard for cancer care.

David Allison, M.D., Medical Director of Harnett Health's medical imaging services adds, Over 2,400 cancer cases
are diagnosed each year in Harnett County, so this initiative impacts many of our patients here."

Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center at Harnett, located at 805-C Tilghman Drive in Dunn, will open July 28. It will offer
chemotherapy services for cancer patients and will have a dedicated oncology social worker and dietitian. Cancer
patients requiring radiation oncology services will be treated at Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center at Health Pavilion
North in northern Cumberland County. All the physicians providing cancer care at the new center will also provide
consultation care to patients at Betsy Johnson and Central Harnett Hospital.

Many of those who require oncology care are elderly and traveling long distances for care is a real hardship, said
Shirish Devasthali, M.D., Medical Oncologist with Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center. We find patients are more
compliant when care is local.

I appreciate how quickly Cape Fear Valley responded by opening an oncology practice within just a few weeks'
time, said Ron Maddox, chairman of the board of trustees for Harnett Health. It means our patients can receive
quality outpatient cancer services from the moment they are diagnosed throughout each step of treatment, and
they can do so without leaving Harnett County.
