Rune Might: History and Practices of the Early 20

th
Century German Rune Magicians
States that a rune is a mystery, and that it was only later that the term came to designate a letter or
writing symol!
Many 20
th
century rune magicians "laced im"ortant on racial heritage, and held #iews to the effects that
the runes are encoded in racial genetics, and you must e of the $race$ to use them % as in some ideas in
&heoso"hy, 'eo('a)ism, etc! *thers did not so much elie#e the idea of racial su"remacy ut rather
held the idea that there are esoteric forces encoded in genetics and genetic memory and can e
redisco#ered or reconstructed!
States there are different runic systems de#elo"ed at different times and y different "eo"le, for
instance, the +rmanen ,uthar- y Guido #on .ist, the 2/ Elder ,uthar-, the 00 Runic Sta#e, etc!
Scholarly it is elie#ed that the original runic futhar- was that of the 2/ Runes!
States the 2/ ,uthar- is rather resistant to use with other magical systems, i!e! does not wor- well with
them % ut that the 12 ,uthar- is not resistant!
States many saw the runes as tools for the rece"tion and transmission of of sutle forces in the
uni#erse!
( &hus, in magical "ractice the runes are used in a caalistic sense!
States during the 20
th
century many comined the "seudo(racialism, eugenics, religion, and occult or
esoteric "ractices and eliefs!
*#iously, the occultist can sim"ly lea#e out the racial ideas, eugenics, and religion and sim"ly
"ractice and use the occult "ractices!
States efore 332 the study of the runes could e classified under three headings: 14 "urely
academic(scientific 24 the lay(scientific and 04 the esoteric!
States that Rune 5oga is one of the magical "ractices of runes, and states it is still a custom for some
schools teaching al"haets to ha#e students imitate the sha"e of the letter with their odies and ma-e
the sound so that they 6uic-ly internali)e 7memori)e and associate the sha"es and "ostures with the
letters and sounds4 them!
&here are different s"aces and le#els of energy, and it is the goal of the rune magician to e ale to
recei#e the energies from these s"aces and le#els and wor- with them!
&his is sim"ly another "ractice of wor-ing with energy from different "lanes and s"aces! ,or
instance, internal wor- 7energy wor-4, astrological wor- in which the magician in#o-es and
directs energies from astrological odies, ta-ing or mo#ing of energies from other "eo"le and
o8ects and creatures, wor- on the different "lanes or mental, astral and "hysical which include
techni6ues li-e imagination, concentration, chi wor-, internal wor- or s"here wor-, reathing,
"ostures, etc!
States the ultimate goal is to e ale to recei#e, control, and e#en e#o-e forces to and from and etween
these different le#els, and the runic magician uses "ostures 7rune yoga4, and the intonation or stating or
#irating of the right sounds as a means to do this and "rogress on his or her training!
States the inter"lay of the forces from the different le#els constitute the "henomena of the uni#erse, and
so the runic magician ecomes an acti#e in this, and influences and controls e#olution and the
"rocesses on and through the different le#els!
States the runes are the -eys to the rece"tion and transmission of the forces from the different le#els!
States the first effects 7in runic wor- and training4 is the healing of the indi#idual, ut they can also e
used for the causing of any desire the runic magician chooses!
States for the runes to e effecti#ely the following are im"ortant and re6uired:
Posture
En#ironmental S"ace
.ocation with regards to the surface of the gloe
9irection or *rientation or the 9irection you are facing
:reathing or stream of reath
;iration or the sound of the runes
3ill or Patterns of Conscious &hought
Motion such as 9ances, Mesmeric Passes, etc!
:reathing "ractices and #iration tend to e ased on rhythm, so, for instance, inhale for a count of <,
retention for a count of <, then #irate the sound or e=hale for a count of <!
>nstructions state to sing or #irate in the tone or a tone most comfortale to you!
&here are traditional music tones, ut there are also e="ressi#e tones, as in the command ?9on$t
use that tone with me!@ ,or instance, some tones sound angry or are associated at a
suconscious le#el with anger, others sound care(free, others s"ontaneous, others ha""y, others
enli#ening or healthy, other serious, others are associated with a "ious or solemn state of mind
which are elie#ed to e im"ortant in tem"le or religious acti#ity, etc! E="erimentation is great
for finding tones! &hen the student should use a tone rele#ant or a""ro"riate to a wor-ing! >t is
li-ely also useful to listen to different -inds of music to find e="ressi#e tones!
He instructs that after a tone has een mastered "ractice raising the "itch!
Practice should also e done for the lowering of the "itch!
States the goal of reathing e=ercises and reath training is to increase the duration of the different
stages of reathing and to e ale to maintain a rhythm in reathing effortlessly!
>nstructs when you "ractice raising the tone from the lowest "itch to the highest "itch #isuali)e energy
entering your feet and rising to your head!
&hus tones and "itch also ecome a means of associated and causing energy to act on and go to
certain "arts of the ody!
He further states the changing of the tone and "itch in this "ractice will resemle something li-e a
siren!
*#iously, "ractice of immediately shifting from one to another is im"ortant! High to low, low
to middle, etc!
>nstructs the "ractitioner to also add mental affirmations during "ractice!
Rune 5oga 7Postures4 comined with magical wor- in#ol#es causing energies to mo#e in certain ways
throughout the ody, as in >ndian Practices!
Runic mantras are used as well, thus, runic mantras comined with magical wor- cause certain energies
to flow throughout the odies on the "lanes!
,or instance mantras using $+$ as a #owel "oint would cause astral "rocesses, > mental, etc!
States the runes are multidimensional -eys which must e used on different le#els!
States runes can e used with other magical "ractices, or can e used alone, since sound has its own
"ower and form as it #irates in the atmos"heric wa#e s"ace!
States for efficiency in runic magic it is im"ortant to ha#e mastery of reathing "ractices, mainly the
maintaining of rhythm!
States "ractice in reathing should e done multi"le times daily, and the goal is to ma=imi)e inhalation
and e=halation!
>nstructs the student to use #owels with consonants! ,or instance, A+ AE A> A* AB A+3 AE+ A>E
etc!
>f using the #owel "oints as mediums for "lane access and influence then these are great for
initiation and asic training! &hey also ha#e the rhythmic #alue or mantric #alue, i!e! sounds to
e re"eated o#er and o#er as a magical and s"iritual techni6ue!
States yodeling is a singing techni6ue in runic "ractice, and does the same thing as the changing of the
"itch!
Higher more mental or higher centers, lower more "hysical or lower centers
States that according to ,!:! Mary the mouth can e used as a sort of magical chamer in which the
modulations made in the sounds could, and would ha#e an effect on the interior and e=terior worlds if
energi)ed y the will and imagination of the magician!
>nstructs in the "ractice of runic mudras 7hand "ositions and configurations4, and states they can e
sustituted for and comined with runic yoga 7asanas or "hysical "ostures4!
States the runic use comined with the mind of the magician can e used to affect different energy
le#els of the human constitution, such as the cha-ras 7energy centers along the ody4, the auric sheaths
of the uddhists, etc!
