It is worthy to note that within the quarter, the project achieved almost
73% participation of children and youth in child development activities.
Two (2) joint meeting of the children and youth were conducted during the
quarter last October 19, 2008 and December 01, 2008. The first meeting
discussed about the upcoming activities planned to implement this October which
was re-scheduled in October 26, 2008 regarding the Children Month Celebration
(which include theater arts presentation, advocacy on child’s rights, games,
parade and other children activities). It also includes the preparation of materials
needed for the said activity and election of children association and youth core
group. The second meeting discussed about distribution of membership form to
children and youth, Organizational Capacity Assessment of Youth Core Group,
and Culminating Activity of SR-CD sessions. It also includes the forthcoming
election of the youth core group officers. Another two meetings was conducted
among the peer facilitators last October 18, 2008 and November 22, 2008. The
first meeting is about the evaluation of the last session conducted which is life
skills and life goals. It includes problems encountered, action taken, lessons
learned, and recommendation. The meeting also includes the preparation of their
visual aids for the next sessions which is child’s rights and schedules of their
sessions among the children in the barangay. The second meeting is about the
evaluation of the child’s rights session which also includes problems
encountered, action taken, lessons learned, and their recommendation. It also
tackled about the SR-CD sessions output after the activity which needs
improvement to become more presentable.
There were 3 children, 1youth, and 2 staff who participated in the Trainor’s
Training on Facilitation Skills which was held last December 5-7, 2008 at Villa
Caceres Hotel, Naga City. Peer Facilitators were developed to assist the project
in the implementation of the child development sessions and for the roll-out of the
Project Monitoring Form 1
FCED Foundation (1849)
National Capacity Building Program among the children in the barangay to
address the level of the participation among the children in the community.
There were 284 children, 49 youth, and 80 adults participated during the
conduct of the Children’s Month Celebration last October 26, 2008 at Canonigo
Covered Court, Paco Manila.
There were 15 youth and 1 child involved during the theater arts practices
last October 19, 2008 at Childhope Asia Phillipines Paco Manila but only few
participates during the actual conduct of the presentation during the Children’s
Month Celebration.
Culminating Activity of the SR-CD session among the children and youth
were also conducted last December 20, 2008 at Garden Plaza Hotel, Paco
Manila which was participated with 6 children and 35 youth. This activity includes
the Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) of the Youth Core Group,
Election of Officers of the Youth Core Group and talked on leadership, and
Welcoming of the Newly Trained Peer Facilitators.
2. Financial Performance
During this quarter, most of the children and youth are busy with other
school and community activities. However, they can find time to participate in the
some activities of the project.
The project has to consider the interest of the group to the kind of child
development activities to be given.
Some of the children and youth leaders failed to attend the meetings and
some project activities. There were activities that are in conflict with the schedule
of the other activities. Some members are hesitant to attend meetings or other
activities because of their conflict with their co-members. Some reason also is
the miscommunication of the members especially in sending the invitation during
the meetings or activities. Some members of the children and youth didn’t come
at the right scheduled time and they will not come if their close friends are not
present.
During the culminating activity, only 41 children and youth out of 60 target
participants are present and some of them did not come at the scheduled time.
Some members have miscommunication when it comes to the invitation.
Children’s Month Celebration were also done successfully but there are
some hindrances that serve as bottlenecks during the activity. The requested
traffic police officers did not come to accompany the flow of the parade. The
amplifier that we’re used during the activity is also not functioning well thus; we
need to get another amplifier that makes our time wasted. It is very noisy
because the venue is open and some of the children are playing in the ground.
The time is also very limited because there are also people who will utilize the
venue thus we need to rush the activity. During the theater art presentation which
Project Monitoring Form 1
FCED Foundation (1849)
was incorporated during the children’s month activity, some of the members did
not perform because some were not present and they feel ashamed. The activity
was participated with 333 children and youth and 80 adults which was over on
the projected number of only 300 children and youth and 30 adults thus there
was a lacking on the snacks and lunch.
The implementation of the activities was done during the availability of the
children and youth who are going to participate in the different activities.
Meetings were conducted during weekends as their availability. Parent
leaders were mobilized to follow-up and mobilize the children and youth's
participation in the child development sessions. The project provided
communication letter to the children and youth leaders for them to attend
the meetings and to inform them of the activities of the project. The letter
was sent through the active officers who disseminate the information.
Aside from the letter, the children and youth were informed through text
and call. The project has to do with the conflict resolution among the
members to avoid misunderstanding and develop more friendship.
The project has again developed 3 children and 1 youth as new facilitators
for the roll-out of the National Capacity Building program and as an
additional asset to ensure the participation of the children. To answer the
problem on the absence of the facilitator to the newly barangay, the 4
facilitators were develop as they came from these barangay. The project
taps the old facilitators to achieve the target outputs for the child
development sessions. The project also comes with the schedule of the
other activities in the community to avoid the conflict of activities especially
on the use of venue. Regarding the venue in the street, the project also
asked the leaders of the barangay if they can use small part of the house
where the sessions can be conducted rather than in the street. Monthly
meeting among the peer facilitators were conducted to discuss about
problems and plan for any action and recommendation.
Because of the project’s seminars and trainings given to the children and
youth it boost their confident to somewhat manage their own program
more so in the implementation of child development sessions in the
community. The formation of another group of Peer Facilitators has a
great impact to achieve the target outputs and the quality outcome of the
project as well as to the community. The 4 newly trained facilitators are
another asset to the project that can help in the implementation of the
child development sessions. The lessons, knowledge, and skills that they
acquired during the facilitating skills and other activities can help the
children and youth define their roles and responsibility to the other
children. Being part of the BCYA program is an avenue for growth and
develops interpersonal relationship among other children and avoids them
from trouble especially the youth.
