OUTREACH

Wildcat Writers Fellow, University of Arizona, Spring 2012-Present
As a university participant in Wildcat Writers, I work with a local high school
teacher on developing shared curriculum and planning field trip activities
among our classes. The program hopes to create sustained connections
between the university and local community, to acquaint college students with
local residents and issues, and to demystify the expectations of college writing
for the high school participants.

Teacher Consultant, Southern Arizona Writing Project, June 2011-Present
To become a SAWP teacher consultant, I completed the Invitational Summer
Institute, working with K-16 teachers in all disciplines on best practices for
teaching writing. For the institute, I created a teaching demonstration. I
currently serve SAWP as a teacher consultant for professional development in
literacy instruction as a University representative.

GEAR UP Literacy Coach, Sunnyside High School, Spring 2011
As a literacy coach, I worked at Sunnyside High School (South Tucson) two
days a week as a writing center director. I helped recruit students to run the
center and clients to attend. I ran tutor training for the high school students on
writing center pedagogy, and I coordinated field trips to the U of A campus,
particularly to visit our college writing center.

Literacy Volunteer, Handmaker Nursing Home, Fall 2010-Fall 2011
As a volunteer, I visited with residents who were unable to read due to
physical issues, such as sight loss. I gave performative readings to residents
and then held a discussion on the selected pieces.

WRITING CENTER EXPERIENCE

Writing Consultant, Commitment to an Athletes Total Success (CATS) Academic
