Prerequisites: Dynamics (EM 345) Introduction to Aerospace Engineering (AerE 261) Differential equations (Math 267)
Course Objectives: Describe the transition from aircraft performance characteristics to the determination of stability and control characteristics Determine static stability and control characteristics for aircraft components and the total aircraft Determine control surface requirements for static longitudinal and lateral- directional stability and control Identify the aircraft rigid body dynamic equations of motion Linearize the aircraft rigid body dynamic equations of motion Predict the longitudinal motions in stick-fixed mode Predict the lateral-directional motions in stick-fixed mode Solve the coupled-motion linearized equations Utilize the SIMULINK software for solution of the dynamic equations of motion
Computer Software: MATLAB/SIMULINK
Grading and Policy:
2 Quizzes 35% Homework 25% Final Exam 40% All the homework assignments are due in class on the stated due dates. Discussions of the course work with classmates are strongly encouraged, but the assignments must be completed independently. Copying others work (with or without consent) is considered an act of academic dishonesty, and will be dealt accordingly once identified.
No late homework assignments will be accepted without prior approval. Topics: Chapter
