How to select multiple files or folders?

There are several ways to select multiple files or folders.
To select a consecutive group of files or folders, click the first item, press a
nd hold down the Shift key, and then click the last item.
[Through keyboard : Using the arrow keys, select the first item, press and hold
down the Shift key, and using arrow keys go through the items that you want to
select.]
To select multiple files or folders that are near each other, drag the mouse poi
nter to create a selection around the outside of all the items that you want to
include.
To select non-consecutive files or folders, press and hold down the Ctrl key, an
d then click each item that you want to select.

and press the SPACEBAR from the keyboard.]
To select all of the files or folders in a window, on the toolbar, click Organiz
e, and then click Select all or from the keyboard press Ctrl + A.
If you want to exclude one or more items from your selection, press and hold dow
n the Ctrl key, and then click the items.
To select multiple files or folders by using check boxes:
Open the Folder Options dialog box.
Click the View tab.
Tick on the "Use check boxes to select items check box".
Click on OK button.
NOTE:
To clear a selection, click a blank area of the window.

What is a Shortcut?

A shortcut is a link to an item (such as a file, folder, or program) on your com
puter. You can create shortcuts and then place them in a convenient location, su
ch as on the desktop or in the navigation pane (the left pane) of a folder, so t
hat you can easily access the item that the shortcut links to. Shortcuts can be
distinguished from the original file by the arrow that appears on the icon.
How to create a shortcut?

Open the location containing the item that you want to create a shortcut to.
Right-click the item, and then click Create shortcut. The new shortcut appears i
n the same location as the original item.
Drag the new shortcut to the desired location.
How to create a shortcut on the Desktop?
===============================
Open the location containing the item that you want to create a shortcut to.
Right-click the item, and then point to "Send to".
Click on "Desktop (create shortcut)"
Libraries
=====================
In general files are organized in different folders and subfolders. In Windows 7
, you can also use libraries to organize and access files regardless of where th
ey're stored.
A library gathers files from different locations and displays them as a single c
ollection, without moving them from where they're stored.
Create a new library
---------------------------
There are four default libraries (Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos), but y
ou can create new libraries for other collections.
To create a new library
Click the Start button , click your user name
(which opens your personal folder), and then,
in the left pane, click Libraries.
In Libraries, on the toolbar, click New library.
Type a name for the library, and then press Enter.
