LESSON AIMS:
Students will be able to understand the usage and form of Present
Continuous Tense; to recognize it and to use it in examples, written and
oral language.
MATERIALS NEEDED: Snapshot Elementary Students book; Workbook; handouts
STAGE TIME ACTIVITY PROCEDURE
BEGINNING 5 WARM-UP

- T writes sentences on the board underlining the verb
phrase
- T asks Ss about this tense: Have you ever heard of Past
Continuous before? Do you know how to form it? Which
auxiliary verb do we need?

PRACTICE 10 WRITING
SPEAKING
- T then writes negative and question form of the
sentences in Past Continuous tense and discusses with Ss
the way they are formed.
- T explains the usage of this tense in language.
- Ss open p.56 in their Students books and take a look at
the grammar section 7.
- Ss will copy this section in their notebooks and T will
explain using the text from the Students book.
T asks is everything clear, are there any difficulties?


PRACTICE 10 SPEAKING

- Ss do the task, p.56 in their Students books 9 Practice
- Ss work in pairs and ask each other questions from the
exercise and answer them
- T checks Ss work and helps them.
- Two or three pairs will present their discussion before
the whole class
- Ss do a short task on handouts
- Whole class check

PRACTICE 15 WRITING
SPEAKING

- Ss do the task: Workbook, pp. 38-39
- Based on the pictures Ss will complete the conversation
using Past Continuous tense.
- Whole class check.

ENDING 5 SPEAKING
- T asks volunteers to repeat the main points of forming
and usage of Past Continuous Tense.
- T asks if there are any difficulties
- HOMEWORK: Do the exercise 8 in your Workbooks, p.39
