INTRODUCTION
In Asia, specifically Philippines are suffering in various illnesses such as nervous breakdown.
Many Filipinos or citizens are much recognized to have treatment in the said illness. So, we researchers
plan and experiment to have a cure for this ailment occurring in increasing number and some of them
were slowly dying because there is no treatment and medicines to be applied.
We produced Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) extract as a treatment for nervous breakdown in
order to help young and adult citizens to lessen their sufferings in this kind of ailment.












Statement of the Problem
The proposed study entitled, The Effect of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) as treatment for
nervous breakdown will be conducted in order to determine the degree of acceptance of those persons
who have various diseases or ill specifically nervous breakdowns in terms of quality, quantity and
appearance to the patient.
Significance of the Study
The results of the study aimed to develop an alternative regimen or less-price money charged for
nervous breakdown of the people by the use of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) extract which do not harm
the environment.
The study also emphasized that plants can cure various diseases such as nervous breakdowns. It
also shows the importance of the biological components of the Sunflower that can help to lessen the
capability of spreading the ill. However, the loss of sunflower in the environment can cause loosen of
ground or soil because of there are no roots can hold the ground. But it has a very important role of such
very important plant that can treat like this ill.
The study also enhanced the awareness of the people in the surrounding that experimenting plants
can produce a big help for others. And for this, researchers enhanced there, skills in micro techniques and
laboratory abilities.
It also involves the biological components of the extract as factor to heal nervous breakdowns.
Such as Methyl Salicylate , Camphor, Eucalyptus and Menthol.



Hypothesis
There is no significant difference among the problem and the persons involved.

Scope and Limitations
The study mainly focused in the anti-nervous breakdown effect of the Sunflower (Helianthus
annuus) extract against the spreading of factors to gain nervous breakdown.
The study also involved the biological composition or the factors of the extract and its dependent
and independent variable.
The study will be conducted at Old Buswang Pavement, Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan, for one
month.

Camphor -is a waxy, flammable, white or transparent solid with a strong aromatic odor. It is
a terpenoid with the chemical formula C

O. It is found in wood of the camphor
laurel Cinnamomumcamphora, a large evergreen tree found in Asia (particularly
in Sumatra, Borneo and Taiwan) and also of Dryobalanopsaromatica, a giant of the Bornean forests. It
also occurs in some other related trees in the laurel family, notably Ocoteausambarensis.
Dried rosemary leaves (Rosmarinusofficinalis), in the mint family, contain up to 20% camphor. It can
also be synthetically produced from oil of turpentine.
Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus oil is readily steam distilled from the leaves and can be used for cleaning and as
an industrial solvent, as an antiseptic, for deodorizing, and in very small quantities in food supplements,
especially sweets, cough drops, toothpaste and decongestants specifically in nervous illness.
Ill not in good health, having a disease, or feeling unwell or nauseated.
Menthol - is an organic compound made synthetically or obtained from corn mint, peppermint or
other mint oils. It is a waxy, crystalline substance, clear or white in color, which is solid at room
temperature and melts slightly above. The main form of menthol occurring in nature is ()-menthol,
which is assigned the (1R,2S,5R) configuration. Menthol has local anesthetic and counterirritant qualities,
and it is widely used to relieve minor throat irritation. Menthol also acts as a weak kappa opioid
receptor agonist.
Methyl Salicylate-is an organic ester that is naturally produced by many species of plants. Some of the
plants which produce it are called wintergreens, hence the common name. This compound is used as a
fragrance. It is also found in extracts in plants.
