Congratulations on purchasing a
TopStone Countertop Systems
Modular Kitchen Tiles Set.
TopStone Modular Countertop Systems is designed to suit 24 deep base
cabinets. When installed, a kit will give a 1 overhang bull-nosed edge
fnish with a total depth of 25.
The unique design also allows for 3 increments in length and meets the
North American cabinet standards.
Please read the instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with
components in the packing list attached to the end of these
instructions or on the outside of each kit prior to installation.
Prior to installation, a dry run of the countertop components is
recommended to ensure you have the required sets to complete the
project.
Marking for sink cut-out should be done during the dry run and the sub
surface material should be cut out according to the sink recommendations
or template.

Tri-square
1/4 x 3/8 x 1/4 Square-Notch Trowel
Drill
1 Spade Bit
Diamond or Carbide tip hole saw used for drilling faucet holes in granite.
(Follow faucet manufacturer's recommendations for drill bit size)
Granite Tile Saw (wet or dry). Might not be required depending on your
countertop layout.
Jig Saw (used for cutting sink sub-straight material)
Note: The following information is a guideline only and TopStone is not
responsible for damages caused during installation.
1. Base Preparation:
Cabinets on which the countertop will be installed should be frmly fxed in
place. Use a tri-square to ensure the cabinet corners are square and level
the surface using a carpenter's level to ensure the top surface of the
cabinets are all level. If you are using your existing cabinets and you fnd
they are not level, you can add shims under the plywood sub-straight to
correct the problem.
IMPORTANT! When using the TopStone Modular Kitchen Tile Countertop
System, DO NOT exceed the 3/4 overall sub-straight decking material thick-
ness. The TopStone tiles have 3/4 drop-down on the edge detail build up.
2. Sub-Surface Preparation:
Use either 3/4 plywood or 1/2 plywood with 1/4 backer board material.
Cut to suit the cabinet size and secure it to the cabinet frame using
screws. Plywood should be fush to front / back / sides of the cabinet. You
may overhang the board on the sides of your countertop for extended
length, but do not exceed more than 6 overhang. Remove all debris and
rough sand surface. Wipe or vacuum wood dust from surface.
3. Cut-out for Undermount or Drop-in Sinks:
Locate the center placement for your undermount or drop-in sink. Be sure
you do not have any cabinet obstruction where you plan to place your
sink. Be sure to follow the sink manufacturer's installation instructions for
cutting out your countertop. These instructions will be different for an
undermount installation vs. a drop-in installation. It is recommended that
you perform a dry run with all TopStone tiles prior to installation.
NOTE: Your TopStone Sink Kit has been polished on the inside edges of
your sink kit tiles. This allows for a finished look when using an
undermount sink application/installation.
IMPORTANT! Your TopStone Modular Kitchen Tiles are designed to
be installed with no spacing between each tile. We do not recommend using tile
spacers as this will throw off your kitchen tile layout and might require additional
tile cutting.
4. Modular Countertop Installation:
NOTE: See Step #5 for backsplash prep before installing countertop tiles.
The following two methods can be employed for installation:
a. Installation Using Thin-Set: Clean debris, grease etc. from tiles
and sub-straight material. Using the 1/4 x 3/8 x1/4 trowel, start applying
the thin-set mortar with latex additive on the fnished sub-straight and start
setting with front edge tiles of the countertop. Be sure to follow mortar
manufacturer's instructions. It is also recommended that you spread only
as much mortar as you can comfortably work with in setting tiles. You do
not want mortar to set up before you have a chance to lay any countertop
tiles. Press the tiles gently on the thin-set with lateral movement for 100%
coverage and align the face using a straight edge. Use a carpenter's level
to check the level of the surface. In case of L or U shaped
countertops, start with laying the inside corner tiles frst and go sideways
along the front edge until the edges are covered. Start setting the back
tiles in the same way as above. Use a carpenter's level to check the level
of the surface and make any adjustments before thin-set hardens. Clean
the surface with a moist cloth. Allow for 24 hours cure time.

b. Installation Using Adhesive: Apply a 1/8
thick epoxy with trowel on the fnished sub-straight (follow
the instruction on application of epoxy from the
manufacturer) and start setting the front edge tiles. Press
the tiles gently into the epoxy with lateral movement for
100% coverage and align the face using a straight edge.
Use a carpenter's level to check the level of the surface. In
case of L or U shaped countertops, start with laying the
inside corner tiles frst and go sideways on the front edge
until the edges are covered. Start setting the back tiles in
the same manner as above (see epoxy manufacturer's
instructions for proper curing time). Use a carpenter's level
to check the level of the surface and make any adjustments
before epoxy hardens. Clean the surface with a moist cloth.
Use clear epoxy or blend for color matching of tiles.
5. Installing Back Splash:
Before laying any of the feld tiles, be sure to sand the
wall surface where backsplash will be positioned on the
countertop. Clean the wall to ensure that it is free of dust.
Apply an 1/8 layer of thin-set mortar with latex additive or
adhesive on the back of the backsplash tile using a trowel
and lay it against the wall aligned with its respective tile.
Align the grout lines to the countertop tiles and check the
level with a straight edge. Use a carpenter's level to check
the level of the surface. Start setting the inside corner frst
and move outwards. Clean surface with clean moist cloth
and allow to cure for 24 hours.
6. Grouting:
If you prefer, you can fll all tile seams with a matching
fexible grout adhesive. Clean the surface at the joints and
grout lines to remove excessive material just as you would
when installing tile. Follow grout manufacturer's instructions
for proper installation.
7. Undermount or Drop-in Sink
Installation:
Once your TopStone Countertop has had the approximate
48 hours dry time, you may begin installing your sink.
Please follow sink manufacturer installation instructions.
CAUTION: Never use plumber's putty or any other oil-
based sealant on granite counters. Clear sealant is
recommended. We recommend a Phenoseal or DAP
sealant as other silicone sealers can stain and blemish the
looks of the countertop tiles.
8. Sealing the Countertop:
Your TopStone Modular Kitchen Tiles have been pre-sealed
at the factory, however it is recommended after completion
of installation, that you re-seal your countertop again for
added protection against water absorption. Again, allow the
installation to dry completely for 48 hours minimum. Apply
the sealer on the top surface including the grout lines
generously and allow it to absorb for 10 minutes and wipe
off the excess from the surface (follow sealer manufacturer
recommendations for application). Apply a second coat to
protect against bacteria growth. This will also protect the
seams against bacteria growth. Sealer should be applied
every 1 to 2 years (depending on the usage and wear of the
countertop) for preventative maintenance. Follow sealer
recommendations. Use water-based sealer that resists
water, oil and acid-based contaminants. This will simplify
maintenance and does not change the appearance. Wear
depends on the area of work, frequency of cleaning and
type of maintenance products used.
NOTE: TopStone is not responsible for any damages or
breakages resulting from the installation carried out by
individuals.

carreaux modulaires de cuisine pour
systmes de comptoirs TopStone.
Les systmes de comptoirs modulaires TopStone sont conus pour tre
installs sur des bases d'armoire ayant une profondeur de 61cm / 24".
Une fois install, le kit aura une bordure arrondie de 2,54cm / 1" en
surplomb et une profondeur totale de 63,5cm / 25". Son design unique
permet galement des incrments en longueur de 7,62cm / 3", conformes
aux normes de menuiserie nord-amricaines.
Avant de faire l'installation, veuillez lire attentivement les instructions
afn de vous familiariser avec les composantes de la liste d'emballage
se trouvant la fn du guide d'instructions ou l'extrieur du carton
d'emballage de chaque kit.
Avant l'installation, il est recommand de faire un essai des composantes
pour vous assurer davoir tous les kits ncessaires pour complter le projet.
Le traage du dcoupage pour l'vier devrait tre fait durant l'essai et les
matriaux sous la surface devraient tre dcoups selon les
recommandations ou le gabarit venant avec l'vier.

Un foret de 2,54cm / 1" 3 pointes
Scie cloche en diamant ou en carbure pour percer les trous des
robinets dans le granit (suivez les recommandations du fabricant pour
la grandeur du foret)
Scie granit ( eau ou sec) (peut ne pas tre ncessaire selon la
disposition du comptoir)
Scie sauteuse (pour couper les matriaux de la sous-couche de l'vier)
Remarque : L'information suivante est titre de conseils seulement et
TopStone ne peut tre tenu responsable de dommages survenus durant
l'installation.
1. Prparation de la base :
Les armoires sur lesquelles seront installs les comptoirs doivent tre
fxes solidement en place. Utilisez le tiers-point et le niveau bulle pour
confrmer que les coins des armoires soient querres et les surfaces des
armoires niveau. Si vous utilisez des armoires dj existantes et que vous
trouvez qu'elles ne sont pas niveau, vous pouvez ajouter des cales
d'paisseur sous la sous-couche en contreplaqu pour corriger le
problme.
IMPORTANT ! Lorsque vous utilisez les carreaux modulaires de cuisine
pour systmes de comptoirs TopStone, les matriaux de la sous-couche NE
DOIVENT PAS excder 2 cm / 3/4" d'paisseur. La bordure des carreaux
TopStone a un rebord de 2 cm / 3/4".
2. Prparation de la sous-couche :
Vous pouvez utiliser un contreplaqu de 2cm / 3/4" ou un contreplaqu de
1,27cm / 1/2" et un panneau d'appui de 0,63cm / 1/4". Le couper selon la
grandeur de l'armoire et l'attacher la charpente de l'armoire avec des vis.
Le contreplaqu doit tre exactement de la mme grandeur l'avant,
l'arrire et sur les cts de l'armoire. Si vous laissez la planche dpasser
sur les cts de votre comptoir pour une plus grande surface, le surplomb
ne peut excder 15cm / 6". Enlevez tous les dbris et sablez lgrement la
surface. Nettoyez ou aspirez la poussire de bois laisse la surface.
3. Dcoupage pour les viers montage
sous plan ou en surface :
Dterminez o le centre de l'vier montage sous plan ou en surface doit
tre plac. Assurez-vous qu'il n'y a aucune obstruction dans l'armoire en
dessous. Veillez bien suivre les instructions du fabricant de l'vier pour le
dcoupage du comptoir. Ces instructions diffreront s'il s'agit d'une
installation montage sous plan ou dune installation montage en
surface. Il est prfrable de faire un essai avec tous les carreaux TopStone
avant de passer l'installation.
REMARQUE : Les bords intrieurs des carreaux d'vier de votre kit
TopStone ont t polis. Cela donne un plus beau fini lorsqu'ils sont
utiliss avec vier montage sous plan.
IMPORTANT ! Vos carreaux modulaires de cuisine TopStone ont t
conus pour tre installs sans espacement entre les carreaux. Nous
dconseillons l'utilisation de cales d'espacement, car cela affectera la
disposition des carreaux et pourrait exiger des tailles de carreaux
additionnelles.
4. Installation de comptoirs modulaires:
REMARQUE : Revoir l'tape no 5 pour le dosseret de prparation avant
d'installer vos carreaux de comptoir.
Les deux mthodes d'installation suivantes peuvent tre
utilises :
a. Installation avec mortier : Nettoyez les dbris, graisse,
etc. sur les carreaux et sur la sous-couche. l'aide dune truelle de
0,63cm x 0,95cm x 0,63cm / 1/4" x 3/8" x 1/4", appliquez une mince
couche de mortier au latex sur la sous-couche et commencez installer
les carreaux de la bordure avant. Assurez-vous de suivre les instructions
du fabricant de mortier. Il est galement recommand d'tendre seulement
la quantit de mortier avec laquelle vous tes l'aise de travailler pour
installer les carreaux. Vous ne voulez pas que le mortier commence
scher avant d'avoir pu installer les carreaux du comptoir. Poussez
doucement les carreaux dans la couche de mortier en utilisant un
mouvement latral et alignez-les en utilisant une rgle de vrifcation.
Utilisez un niveau bulle pour vous assurer que la surface soit bien
niveau. Pour les comptoirs en forme de L ou de U, commencez par
installer les carreaux du coin intrieur et continuez le long de la partie
avant jusqu' ce que la bordure soit entirement couverte. Faites de mme
avec les carreaux arrires. l'aide d'un niveau bulle, assurez-vous que
la surface soit niveau et, au besoin, faites les ajustements avant que le
mortier ne durcisse. Nettoyez la surface avec un linge humide. Laissez
scher pendant au moins 24 heures.
b. Installation avec un adhsif : l'aide d'une truelle, appliquez
une couche de 0,3cm / 1/8" de rsine d'poxy (suivez les instructions
d'installation du fabricant) et commencez installer les carreaux de la
bordure avant. Poussez doucement les carreaux dans la rsine d'poxy en
utilisant un mouvement latral pour une adhrence complte et alignez-les
en utilisant une rgle de vrifcation. Utilisez un niveau bulle pour vous
assurer que la surface soit bien niveau. Pour les comptoirs en forme de
L ou de U, commencez par installer les carreaux du coin intrieur et
continuez le long de la partie avant jusqu' ce que la bordure soit
entirement couverte. Faites de mme avec les carreaux arrires. Vrifez
la dure de schage dans les instructions du fabricant de rsine d'poxy.
l'aide d'un niveau bulle, assurez-vous que la surface soit niveau et,
au besoin, faites les ajustements avant que la rsine d'poxy ne durcisse.
Nettoyez la surface avec un linge humide. Utilisez une rsine transparente
ou d'une couleur s'apparentant celle des carreaux.
5. Installation du dosseret :
Nettoyez le mur pour enlever toute la poussire laisse en surface. l'aide
de la truelle, appliquez une couche de 0,3cm / 1/8" de mortier au latex ou
d'adhsif l'arrire du dosseret et collez-le sur le mur en l'alignant avec
son carreau respectif. Alignez les joints de coulis avec ceux du comptoir et
vrifez l'alignement avec la rgle de vrifcation. Utilisez un niveau bulle
pour vous assurer que la surface soit bien niveau. Commencez
l'installation par un coin intrieur et continuez vers l'extrieur. Nettoyez la
surface avec un linge propre et humide et laissez scher pendant 24 heures.

6. Installation du coulis :
Selon votre prfrence, vous pouvez
remplir les joints entre les carreaux avec
un coulis adhsif fexible assorti.
Nettoyez la surface des joints et des
lignes de coulis pour enlever tout
excdant de matriaux, comme vous le
faites lorsque vous installez des
carreaux. Suivez les instructions du
fabricant pour une bonne installation.
7. vier montage sous
plan ou en surface
Installation :
Une fois que votre comptoir TopStone a
sch pendant au moins 48 heures, vous
pouvez commencer l'installation de votre
vier. Veuillez suivre le guide
d'installation du fabricant. MISE EN
GARDE : Il ne faut jamais utiliser de
mastic de plombier ou autre agent
scellant base d'huile sur un comptoir
en granit. L'utilisation d'un scellant
transparent est recommande. Nous
recommandons d'utiliser Phenoseal ou
un scellant DAP, car les autres agents
scellant en silicone pourraient tacher ou
endommager la surface de votre
comptoir.
8. Sceller le comptoir :
Mme si vos carreaux modulaires de
cuisine Topstone ont t prscells en
usine, nous recommandons que vous
scelliez nouveau votre comptoir une
fois l'installation termine pour mieux
l'impermabiliser. Ici aussi, il faut laisser
l'installation scher compltement
pendant au moins 48 heures. Appliquez
gnreusement le scellant sur la surface
et les joints de coulis, puis laissez le
liquide pntrer pendant 10 minutes
avant d'essuyer le surplus laiss en
surface (suivez les recommandations
d'application du fabricant). Appliquez
une deuxime couche pour protger la
surface contre la croissance de
bactries. Cela permettra galement de
protger les joints contre la croissance
de bactries. Par mesure de prvention,
un scellant doit tre rappliqu tous les 1
2 ans (selon l'usage et l'usure du
comptoir). Suivez les recommandations
du fabricant. Utilisez un scellant base
d'eau qui rsiste l'eau, l'huile et les
contaminants base d'acide. Cette
opration simplifera l'entretien et
n'altrera pas l'apparence. L'usure du
comptoir dpend de la surface de travail,
de la frquence de nettoyage et des
produits utiliss.

par des particuliers.
