Todays readings remind us about our responsibility of warning and admonishing others. In this spirit I would like to ask everyone and especially, those who reside near our church for your concern for the grounds keeping. I noticed that people who park their vehicles near the church, as they clean their cars out, they tend to throw the garbage on the sidewalks and around the church buildings. Some people bring candles and place them in the Padre Pio Plaza spilling the wax making it very difficult to keep the Plaza clean. St. Francis Borgia Church and School were founded to serve the people and children. Our responsibility is to care for and to be concerned for this sacred place. For this reason, if you see any unusual behavior in or around our church that could be harmful please warn them or notify me. God bless you for your concern for St. Francis Borgia Church, which is the House of God and our house. As it was announced last weekend, responding to the request of Cardinal Francis George, we support this weekend the persecuted Christians in the Middle East by prayers and offerings. Thank you for all your prayers for peace and for your generous offerings for the second collection this weekend. Our Archdiocese has a sharing program which means that some parishes voluntarily help other parishes or pastoral programs that are in need. Our parish is helping St. Margaret, St. Benedict the African parishes and the Deaf Ministry using the Sharing Envelope and having a second collection once a year. This year the second collection for Sharing will be next weekend, September 13th and 14th. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S CLUB Monday, September 8th. Dear Parishioners and Visitors of St. Francis Borgia Church,
St. Francis Borgia School is Preschool to Grade 8, and is a continually growing parish. We are proud of our important contributions to the community and our tradition of faithful service. With over 60 years of proven academic success, our school is committed to giving our students the best education possible. St. Francis Borgia School will continue to be a vibrant pillar of academic excellence on the northwest side of Chicago in the years to come. Last year, St. Francis Borgia School hosted its Third Annual Fall Festival with much success. We are expanding this event with the hope that this will become our main fundraiser. The goal of this event is to raise much-needed funds to support our academic program, improve the technology used by teachers and students daily, as well as to build neighborhood relationships. We are so excited this year to hold our Fourth Annual Fall Festival. This years event will be held on Thursday, September 18; Friday, September 19; Saturday, September 20; and Sunday, September 21. With nearly 250 children enrolled in the school and the use of great marketing, we expect to have over 2,000+ people attend this fun event each day. Now in our Fourth year, we are looking to make this years Fall Festival better than ever, and we need your help to make that happen. I am writing to ask for your generosity and help to achieve our fundraising goals. We are looking for donation of various items to manage the food concessions for the event to include: paper products, foam coffee cups, cans of soda, hot dog and hamburger buns, bottled water, polish sausage, Italian sausage, brats, hot dogs, hamburgers, and much more. The Fall Festival staff can come to you and pick up the donations, or you can come to St. Francis Borgia to drop off the donations. If you cannot donate physical food product items, a monetary donation would also be useful to our fundraising goals and to purchase items not able to be donated. If you are interested in supporting St. Francis Borgias Fall Festival through any donation, please return the enclosed form by September 2nd, 2014 to ensure having your business listed in our marketing materials and/or banners. St. Francis Borgia School is a qualified tax-exempt organization, and you will receive a post-event tax letter for your purposes. Thank you for considering this request. If you have any questions or would like additional information about the Fall Festival or our school, please contact Chair of the event. Sincerely,

Millions in Iraq, Syria, and Gaza are continually being displaced, murdered, and attacked, and the situation is increasingly becoming more violent. Christians are struggling to survive, protect their children, and live with dignity in dire conditions. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is working tirelessly to provide for the immediate humanitarian needs for the most vulnerable in need in these conflict areas. Please pray for peace and unity and donate to the Middle East Collection on September 6th and 7th. To donate online please visit: www.ChicagoPeaceandJustice.org/special-collection-for-the-middle-east/. We will remember the victims and their families and we will pray for peace in the whole world together with our school community at the special 8:30am Mass on Thursday, September 11 in Church. After Mass we will go out to the Padre Pio Plaza and say the St. Francis Prayer for peace.
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is error, the truth; Where there is doubt, the faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
