1. Create some 6’’ diameter simple layouts by cutting the base cir-
Petaloo Flowers cle of paper with a decorative click blade from the #1049 de-
Bazzill Basics Cardstock signers pack in the freestyle mouse from the #1060 smart trim-
mer. Build up some patterned paper trimmed with decorative

edges using the click blades and the smart trimmer. Add a small
Michelle’s Stash Ribbon, lace, gems, bling, photo and some extra embellishments like ribbon and lace. Em-
bellishments with texture look great for this project as they
look ‘real’ on the final scanned image. Add a chipboard name

reduced in size.

2. Once you’re happy with your layouts, scan them and reduce
the size of the image to about 4 ½ ‘’. Print the images out onto 2

bright white paper.

3. Switch on the #3020 Hot laminator to heat up and then cut
out the images. Leaving a slim white border allows the
decorative edge of the circle to be seen.
4. Draw around this circle onto some of the same or contrasting
paper, cut it out and with the glue glider pro stick it to the
back of the mini layout. Add a journaling block and write a
special message to the recipient or record a memory that
goes with the layout.
5. Open up some #4021 5’’x7’’ hot pockets, insert the layouts
and laminate. Turn off the laminator and then cut out the
coasters. Voila -mini layouts with no lumps or bumps so
glasses will sit happily on the coasters that can be wiped
clean. (and you don’t have to strain your eyes making the
layouts that small!!)
6. Next step is to make the favor box. Draw around a coaster on
your chosen paper (I used “Merry Berry” from the “Jolly by
Golly” collection by Cosmo Cricket) and cut the circle out just
a little wider than the line. Draw around the piece you have
just cut out and cut out in the same way, just a little wider
than the line, the first circle is the bottom of the box, the sec-
ond is the top.

7. Cut a strip of the same paper on the smart trimmer using the straight
edge click blade (#2801) 12’’ long and 1 ½’’ wide, cut another strip 4’’
3
long and 1½’’ wide. Score these two strips on the smart trimmer using
the scoring click blade (#2811) at ½’’ on the width. Join these two
pieces together making a long strip for the side of the base of the box.
8. So the paper will bend around the circle, snip out triangles along the ½’’
width up to the score line. (To those of you who sew –just like an arm
hole!)
9. Using the Glue Glider Pro apply adhesive around the circle of the base
and stick the side in place, sticking the overlap at the end, trimming
excess if necessary.
10.Make the sides for the top piece in exactly the same way just making
the width of the strips 1’’ this time but still scoring at ½’’
11.Once the 2 pieces of the box are done, draw round them and cut out a
circle of paper in the same pattern to stick in the top and bottom to
cover the ‘workings’ inside the box.
12.Decorate the box. I added a ribbon around the top edge and made holly
leaves from Core’dinations cardstock, adding a sticker from the “Jolly by
Golly” crafting kit and a few flat back gems.
13.And that’s it! A very stylish and unique favor for family and friends that
you can create to suit your holiday décor, and something people will
treasure. Also you get a lovely collection of 6’’ layouts to make into an
album! Why not use the idea at other times of the year? A wedding
favor would look great with a mini layout of the happy couple,
remember because you are printing the image you only need to make
one layout and just duplicate! (You can then mount the originals on a
page or two in your OWN book!)
