Chakma Raja Nalinakkha Roy was the ruler of Royal Chakma Kingdom in those days. He became King in
1935 after his father Raja Buban Mohan Roy died on 17th September 1933. He ruled for 17 years
(1935-51). During his rule, the Indian sub-continent became Independence from the British on 14 th
& 15 August 1947 respectively. After the Independence, Sir Cyril Radcliffe, the Chairman of the Boundary Commis-
sion, arbitrarily awarded the Royal Chakma Kingdom to Pakistan in violation of the very principle of the partition, i.e.
the Muslim majority districts to go to Pakistan and others to India. Where, 98 per cent of the population of the Royal
Chakma Kingdom was non- Muslims at the time of independence. The Jummas under the leadership of Patriotic Sneha
Kumar Chakma, hosted Indian Flag from 14th –20th August in 1947 at Rangamati and demanded that the Royal Chakma King-
dom should be made part of the secular Republic of India.

Anattalakkhana Sutta
The Blessed One was given this discourse to the five Ascetic monks at the same time, same occasion and same place at
Vanarasi, Isipatana, where he was given discourse the Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta, the first Sermon after the Enlight-
enment.
The Exalted One said: Rùpa, Vedana, Sañña, Sankharas and Viññana are not self or soul (Anatta).
1. Rùpa (Form or Matter): Form is not self or soul. If form were soul or self, then it would not to be
leads itself to Dukkha (suffering). One would be able to say, ‗Hey my form to be thus and not to be
thus‘. But precisely, form is not self or soul, so its leads to suffering. As a result, no one can say that
‗Let my form to be thus and not to be thus‘.
2. Vedana (Feeling): Feeling is not self or soul. If feeling were soul or self, then it would not to be
leads itself to Dukkha (suffering). One would be able to say, ‗Hey my feeling be thus and not to be
thus‘. But precisely, feeling is not self or soul, so its leads to suffering. As a result, no one can say that
‗Let my feeling to be thus and not to be thus‘.
3. Sañña (Perception): Perception is not self or soul. If perception were soul or self, then it would not be leads itself to
Dukkha (suffering). One would be able to say, ‗Hey my perception to be thus and not to be thus‘. But precisely, percep-
tion is not self or soul, so its leads to suffering. As a result, no one can say that ‗Let my perception to be thus and not to
be thus‘.
4. Sankharas (Mental formations): Mental formations are not self or soul. If mental formations were soul or self, then
it would not be leads itself to Dukkha (suffering). One would be able to say, ‗Hey my mental formations to be thus and
not to be thus‘. But precisely, mental formations is not self or soul, so its leads to suffering. As a result, no one can say
that ‗Let my mental formations to be thus and not to be thus‘.
5. Viññana (Consciousness): Consciousness is not self or soul. If mental formations were soul or self, then it would not
be leads itself to Dukkha (suffering). One would be able to say, ‗Hey my mental formations be thus and not to be thus‘.
But precisely, mental formations is not self or soul, so its leads to Dukkha. As a result, no one can say that ‗Let my men-
tal formations to be thus and not to be thus‘.
During the discourse Lord Buddha asked to the Bhikkhus, ―Hey Bhikkhus, what do you think? Is form, feelings, percep-
tion, mental formations and consciousness are permanent or impermanent?‖
Bhikkhus replied: ―Impermanent, Venerable Sir.‖
Lord Buddha asked: Now, you knew that it is impermanent. Is it satisfactory (Sukha) or unsatisfactory (Dukkha)?
Bhikkhus replied: "Unsatisfactory Venerable Sir‖
Lord Buddha asked: Now, you knew that it is impermanent, unsatisfactory and subject to change as. Then, what is tran-
sitory - is it fit to be perceived thus: ―This is mine; this is I; this is my soul‖?
Bhikkhus replied: ―No, Venerable Sir.‖
Buddha admonished them: ―So Bhikkhus, whatever form, feeling, perception, mental formations and consciousness;
whether in the past or present or future; gross or subtle; in oneself or in others; inferior or superior; far or near; internal or
external; common or sublime: must with right understanding of things as they really are, being regarded thus: ―This is
not mine. This is not I. This is not my soul.‖
Everybody is to be seen as it actually is with right discernment as: ―This is not mine. This is not I. This is not what I am.‖
Seeing thus, ―the well-learned disciple of the Noble Ones grows disenchanted with the body, feeling, perception, mental
formations and consciousness. Being disenchanted, he becomes dispassionate. Through dispassion, he is fully released.
With full release, there is the knowledge.

Chakma missionary monk Ven. Su-
manalanker Mahathera along with his disci-
ples from Jummaland landing to Chiangmai, Thailand in
order to attend at the 20th Anniversary of International Net-
work of Engaged Buddhists (INEB) Conference 2009. It is
21 days program and it starting from 10 -30 November 2009.
The main theme of the conference is ―Engaged Buddhist
Festival of Peace and Social Transformation‖.

The eldest son, Prince Tridiv Roy succeeded the

Throne on 2nd March 1953 after his father Raja
Nalinakkha Roy died on 7th October 1951. Raja
Tridiv Roy and Honorable Larma was the
same batch in generation. Raja was born
on 14th May 1933 and Larma was born
on 15th September 1939. Raja was six
years elder to Larma‘s only. But, Patri-
otic Larma‘s philosophical ideas was far sharper
than Raja Tridiv. His mind, body and spirit were
always with, for and by the Jumma Nation. As a
result, he was scarifies his whole life for the
Jumma Nation. He is immortal and still alive in
every Jumma‘s mind, body and spirits.
