Spelling Information:
I will give your child a spelling pretest on Monday morning. If your child correctly spells all of
the words, s/he will need to practice the challenge spelling words for the week. These words
will replace the first five words on the regular spelling list. I will indicate on your childs
spelling pretest, if he/she is a challenger speller for the week. Due to lack of time, I cannot
guarantee I will have a chance to give your child the spelling pretest, if s/he is absent on
Monday morning. In this case, please have your child study the regular spelling words. Also,
spelling tests will be on Friday morning, unless I inform you otherwise, i.e. holiday.

Weekly Words Information:
We will study vocabulary words, which go along with our Harcourt Reading story, each week.
Your child will need to learn the words and their meanings. Also, vocabulary tests will be on
Thursday morning, unless I inform you otherwise, i.e. holiday.

Homework Information:
Your child will receive a homework packet each Monday. The homework packet will include
vocabulary practice, spelling practice, math practice, and either reading or writing practice.
Also, the homework packet can be competed at your childs earliest convenience or returned on
Friday. If your child needs the weekend to finish the homework, just write me a note and I will
not mark it late.
*Students who do not turn in their homework will have to complete it at school, either during
recess or i-pad time.

Station Work Information:
Your child will independently complete reading and/or math station work, during the week. This
work is graded as completed or not completed and counts for a work habits grade.
