2CL404 CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT [- - 4 4]

The project will be of multifaceted nature based on fundamental knowledge of various civil
engineering areas like structural analysis and design, computer applications, construction methods,
materials, environmental engineering, water resources, foundation engineering, transportation
engineering, town planning, remote sensing & GIS application. The student will design a project of
specific field of civil engineering in all respect i.e. planning, layout, structural analysis, design, bill of
quantity, estimate and detailed drawings for the same.

Student will work for 4 weeks intensively in summer followed by work during regular semester.
Student is required to submit the project report at the end of civil engineering project.

Civil engineering project designed and executed by professionals be chosen for practical training of
18 weeks duration. The student is required to study in details profile of the company, information of
the project, various stages of construction of the project with reference to materials and its
management, tools and equipment, temporary structures required, methods employed, labour
requirement and their productivity, method of measurement and billing, safety, quality checks
required, scheduling and alternative of each item of execution with cost comparison.

The final report to be submitted by the student shall comprise of the details of the project,
observations, important aspects, working difficulties encountered, remedy during execution, and will
be submitted immediately after training.
