First, Electronic Drafting allows you to have your General Fund or Capital
Campaign pledge withdrawn from your bank account on the 20th of each month.
This is a convenient way to fulfill your pledges without the need to write a check,
and no fees are charged to you or the church for this service. To set up electronic
drafting, simply provide the church treasurer a completed form indicating the
amount you choose to have withdrawn each month, along with a voided check.
For more information, go to www.eastminsterpres.org/drafting or contact church
treasurer, Christy Rippy, at 256-1654.
Second, Online Giving can be accessed on the front page of the Churchs
website (under Giving at the top right of the page) and allows you to make memorial
offerings or contribute to the General Fund or the Capital Campaign using your
Visa or Master Card. Each transaction is subject to a 2.5% processing fee, which
the church absorbs.
These methods provide additional and convenient ways to contribute to Eastminster. And if you use either method, please remember to check the My contribution is given electronically box on your offering envelope when you place it in
the offering plate on Sunday!
In Christ,

Officers Retreat

Eastminster Welcomes . . .
The Reverend Dr. William R. (Bill) Bouknight

Dr. Bouknight will lead the Eastminster Officers Retreat the

weekend of September 19 - 20. Then on Sunday morning September
21, we will be privileged to host Dr. Bouknight in our pulpit.
Dr. Bouknight was born in Greenville, SC, the son of the Rev. and
Mrs. W.R. Bouknight, Jr. He was reared in Methodist parsonages all
over South Carolina. His undergraduate and most of his seminary
education was received at Duke University, with the final year of the
Masters of Divinity work completed at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Afterward,
Bill completed the Sacred Theology Masters (STM) at Yale Divinity School. In 1988, Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, conferred upon him the honorary D.D. degree.
Bill served five churches in South Carolina from 1966 until 1994. His longest tenure was
twelve years as Senior Minister of Trenholm Road UMC in Columbia, SC. In 1994 he was
appointed Senior Minister of Christ UMC, Memphis, TN. In June 2007, Bill retired, having
served 41 years in full-time ordained ministry, and moved back home to Columbia, SC.
He has written several books. Three recent ones are The Authoritative Word: Preaching
Truth in a Skeptical Age (Abingdon Press, Nashville, 2001), Should Christians Always Oppose
War, and 11 Other Questions Believers Ask (Bristol House, Anderson, IN, 2004), and If Disciples Grew like Kudzu (Bristol House, 2007). Bills latest book, published in 2010 by Bristol
House, is entitled Five Beliefs Worth Dying For.
Bill has been married to Gloria Pardee Bouknight for 42 years and they have two sons,
Brad and Aaron.

service where we pray for all kinds of needs and celebrate the Lords Supper together. If you
desire a quiet place of worship, join us at 5:00 p.m. in the Adult Reception Hall. A nursery is
available in the Drop-In nursery rooms in the CLC.

and gifts for this special event. We are planning for 100 folks, so bring your friends, old and
new, and welcome the new faces in the crowd. Make your reservations for this event by calling Mary Baldauf (256-1654) at the church. Space will be limited, so call early.

the 11:15 a.m. worship service in rooms 269-275 of the Christian Life Center. This
will be the Wagner familys last Sunday at Eastminster. The church encourages
everyone to let Jon and Elizabeth know what their ministry has meant to you and
your family. Notes of thanks and love offering contributions sent to Eastminster
marked Thanks, Jon will be compiled into a single check and a single scrapbook
to be presented at the reception.

Moms, Looking for Morning Childcare?

Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30
p.m., Eastminsters Drop-In Nursery is open for infants 6 weeks through 4 years
of age. If this is your first time, forms may be completed the first day the child
attends. There is a $45.00 fee due each September (pro-rated throughout the year)
with a $10.00 fee for each additional child. Hourly rates are $6.00 per hour for the
first child and $2.00 per hour for each additional child. You may either be billed

Mens Monday Morning Prayer Breakfast

Calling all men for a Bible study opportunity! Youre always welcome to join us at
7:00 a.m. each Monday morning (excluding holidays) as we gather in Thompson
Hall for a full breakfast, for an enriching, enlightening Bible study, for great fellowship, and for prayer. We conclude at 8:00 a.m., whether our teacher-of-the-day
is finished or not, so that everyone can get on to the office or the shop or the golf
course. No reservations needed. We hope to see you there!

For our loved ones . . .

Wednesday Evening Meals are Back!

We invite everyone to share a meal on Wednesday evenings with your church

family beginning at 5:15 p.m. Meal prices are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children
8 and under and a household cap of $25.00 for a family. We ask that you register
online or call the receptionist (256-1654) so we have enough food prepared. We
hope you will come enjoy good food, fellowship, family and friends!

Pick up your Publix Partners Card to earn money for EDS!

Did you know that you can help provide funding for the Eastminster Day
School by shopping at Publix? Pick up your Publix Partners card from the welcome
desk by the temporary sanctuary, or from the church receptionist. Add it to your
key ring and ask your cashier to swipe it when you shop at Publix! Make sure the
whole family has a card! During the 2013-2014 school year, EDS families helped us
receive a $967.24 donation from Publix to put back into the school! We would love
to increase that amount this year by getting the whole church involved. Thank you
for your support!
