Whats the L3 systems?

There are different levels of SAP Implementation a company can have from level 1 to level 5. Depending
upon the level of the integration an implementation qualifies a level. Currently JSW steel was using Level
3 SAP implementation. The higher the level goes better is the integration of all the processes and
activities of the company into SAP.
SAP works as the internal system to the company, the company staff has the access to it. Any order that
comes from companys e-commerce portal or through any other medium gets logged into the SAP
system of the company. After that all the orders are transferred to the PPMS (Production planning
management system) - A system that plans everything from how much quantity of what quality steel
should be produced over a given timeline. After the receiving the order from SAP, a PPC is confirmed.
Post which a specific week for which the order has been booked is added to the order requirements.
All such orders all clubbed into one and a daily schedule is prepared. A time plan is prepared depending
upon the sequence allocation with a confirmed schedule. Then there are different process through
which the material is processed, RHMS data processing, Jetty data processing. Further chemical analysis
is also done with a quality process parameter, quality is also checked. Again depending upon the order
processing re allocation of schedule happens.
All this is done to have a daily Heat schedule. Here Heat is a unit of measurement for molten steel. It
represents how many units (Heat) of raw steel is produced. Then after receiving the daily heat schedule
the production is done. Newly produced steel is produced in slabs which are then converted into coils.
And then transported for further processing.
Interface with SAP

A proposal requisition is received in the SAP system, An RFQ (Request for quotation) is generated which
is then uploaded for inviting proposals from suppliers on the companys ecommerce portal. Which is
then filled online by the suppliers and is evaluated. The information is updated in the SAP system which
is basically the result of the bid evaluation. A purchase order is generated for the winner of the bid. The
purchase order is posted on the site. The order is then executed on the ecommerce portal of company.
The Invoice is then updated in the SAP system of the company also. The goods are received and checked
for what was required. Accounting and payment task are done in the continuation of this. Updates are
given on the ecommerce portal about the order position.
