ICT Resource Lesson Justification Example

1, 2 Glogster was chosen as an ICT tool within
these lessons to provide students with an
alternative representation of information. This
representation outlines the problem solving
task for students in an interesting and
engaging way. Generally this type of
information would be presented in a document
or worksheet, this colourful and interactive tool
visually stimulates and encourage student
learning. As there are many visual and auditory
learners and a students with dyslexia in the
class, this representation uses video and
image files to present information about the
problem.

1, 7 Bubbl Us is used as an example tool to initiate
brainstorming through an easy, fun and
interactive design. The students in the class
have used Bubbl Us in previous years.
Learners are able to save, outline their prior
knowledge and current understanding and print
the mind map to display in the classroom. This
is also resourceful and helpful for the visual
learners. As this mind map is simple to use,
scaffolding instructions from the teacher is only
needed at the beginning of each lesson to
ensure students are using it effectively.

Wikispaces

1, 2, 5, 6 Wikispaces are simple to use that helps
students achieves the learning intention. This
ICT tool gives teachers immediate, relevant,
and direct insight into student engagement and
contribution. Wikispaces is built around a
familiar communications newsfeed that
encompasses the work of the class and a
private social network. Students are able to
communicate with each other, share ideas and
add new concepts. Learners are able to
quickly communicate with their peers in groups
and as individuals. Students get the flexibility
to engage with their peers at their own pace
and participate with enthusiasm in the
classroom. These online pages helps students
to create solutions of the problem, define
teams and manage the successful completion
of their campaign.

Interactive Whiteboard

1, 2 The Interactive Whiteboard is an excellent tool
for this group of students. As there are
kinesthetic, auditory and visual learners and a
student diagnosed with ADHD; the Interactive
Whiteboard displays and plays video, image
and audio files and allows students to move
around the classroom to access information.
This tool promotes comprehensive learning as
students learn best when they are fully
engaged and hands on. The Interactive
Whiteboard is also easy to use as the teacher
can create flip charts that supply a problem
and the possible solutions.

Talking animal- Fodey

2 Fodey was selected as a possible ICT tool as it
provides students with a different way to
communicate with their peers. Throughout the
learning experiences students verbally share
their ideas, however at times students may
forget what has been said. Fodey enables
students to refer back to what has been said
and learners are able to read it at their own
pace. This is essential and helpful for the
learner how has been diagnosed with dyslexia.
The talking animals allow leaners to edit and
create conversations independent using their
own ideas. The animals are interactive and fun
showing their big eyes and shiny white teeth.
Using Fodey the classroom teacher can
evaluate and assess student communication,
literacy and grammar skills.

2, 3 A Voki was selected as an example tool
because it is one of the more different ways to
get across information. This ICT tool provides
students with a different way to communicate
with their peers. Throughout the learning
experiences students verbally share their
ideas, however at times students may forget
what has been said. Vokis enable students to
refer back to what has been said and learners
are able to read it at their own pace. This is
essential and helpful for the learner how has
been diagnosed with dyslexia. A Voki perfect
for auditory and visual learners as they are
able to create their characters and text
independently.

3 The utilization of a Prezi creates s different
way to show a presentation of information. All
students know how to create and use
PowerPoint presentations, Prezis develop
student interaction that one step further.
Students are able to incorporate image, video
and audio files, text and links to websites.
Prezi gives learners the chance to explore a
canvas of ideas and highlights the way
concepts are interconnected. The tool favours
visual learning and works very much a mind
map. Prezi is a great tool for interactive
classroom sessions as students can cooperate
and add new ideas with their peers, brainstorm
and build a presentation on one shared virtual
whiteboard.

3 Skype was chosen as an ICT tool within this
lesson as it is a free and easy way to open the
classroom and students to a world beyond the
classroom. Conferencing with the RSPCA
bridged the gap between the content students
were learning in the classroom and the real
world. Students are provided with an authentic
learning experience and problem solving task.
Skype offers face to face communication with
an expert in the field rather than the classroom
teacher. Skype enables leaners to connect,
collaborate, and communicate with individuals
outside of the school community. This digital
resource is perfect for auditory students.

4 The incorporation of YouTube in the unit
overview gives students the opportunity to
make connections between visual clues, the
memory process, and the recall of new
knowledge. Learners use critical and higher
order thinking to interpret what they have
watched. Video stimulates and engages
students creating interest and maintaining that
interest for longer periods of time, and it
provides an innovative and effective means for
educators to address and deliver the required
curriculum content. Video provides a means of
interactive instruction and is a very flexible
medium. Having the ability to stop, start and
rewind is a helpful strategy for students who
are having difficulty. Students are also able to
view the video as many times as needed to
understand the concept of the pedagogy.

auditory learners.

4 The utilization of a Song Generator creates a
different way to present information. Students
independently create their own lyrics; therefore
learning is student centred. When writing lyrics
students incorporate phrases and words that
they understand and can define. Using Song
Generator the classroom teacher can evaluate
and assess student communication, literacy
and grammar skills. This digital device is
perfect for all learners as they are involved in a
practical, auditory and visual task. The
students diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia
are also able to participate as they use text
and communicate with their peers.
