Bonfire at the Huffmans
1900 Lake Road, NE
Tonight at 5:00 p.m.

This is in lieu of our Sunday evening
service. You are being asked to bring a
snack and drink for everyone to share. We
will supply hot dogs and buns. In addition,
you will need to bring a lawn chair. If you
have a corn hole set, please bring it.

Dont forget there is no evening service tonight at the
building. Instead we will meet at Tim & Marie
Huffmans for a relaxing evening around a bonfire. While
there we will have devotions and the Lords Supper will
be offered. As for food, we will provide hotdogs and
buns and of course, marshmallows. You are asked to
bring a drink.

This past week we began our new Wednesday night
electives. I hope many of you will choose to participate in
the two electives we are offering. My elective study
begins at 6:15 in the Fellowship Hall and it is called:
Respectable Sins. We had a great start but you can still
join us if you desire. Again a class book is a required $14
purchase and you can pick up your copy from me.

Today I begin a new sermon series called: BOLD!
More specifically today I want us to define what true
boldness is and how does that help us navigate through
the life God had given us.

Last week I began asking you to pray as a congregation
and I gave you one specific prayer to consider daily. Did
you pray? I hope so! Prayer is essential for church health.
I read an alarming statistic this last week. It indicated that
over 100,000 churches in America are showing signs of
moving toward death. Will that statistic encourage you to
pray daily for our church? I hope so! May God give us
the courage to make necessary changes to propel us to
new life here at Fifth.

Here is this weeks prayer for our church: God, please
let me be part of the solution not the problem. Show me
what I need to see. Open my eyes to YOUR reality and
give me the courage to move forward in the direction
YOU desire.
I n His Service,

PERSONAL NOTE: My thanks to Brad
for escorting our group to Zanesville, on
Tuesday. Personal commitments kept me

week we resumed our senior Bible studies
(not limited to seniors). Our 10:00 am and
6:30 pm groups are involved in, A Brief
Survey of Old Testament History. Study
outlines are available. It is not too late to
join either of these programs.

October 18, we will be traveling to Amish
Country. On this adventure, we will visit
the David Warther Carvings Museum.
David is the grandson of the gentleman
who did the marvelous train carvings on
display in New Philadelphia (we have
visited there). Davids specialty is boats.
After our museum tour, we will have lunch
at the Dutch Valley Restaurant and visit
our favorite cheese shops in the afternoon.
The cost, for travel and museum
admission, will be $15 per person. We will
depart at 7:30 am and return in late
afternoon. A sign-up sheet is posted.
Payment is due at sign-up.

FI NAL THOUGHT: The world is made
up of takers and givers. The takers eat
better but the givers sleep better.
Coming October 3rd, we
will enjoy a night of laughter
as we watch a new dvd from
Christian Comedian Tim
Hawkins. You wont want to
miss this. We will make
popcorn and have drinks so all
you need to do is show up.
Why not bring a friend. We
will start at 7 p.m. This event
is for our entire church family.

The Scent of Lilacs
by Ann Gabhart
After the summer of 1964, life for Jocie Brooke will
never be the same.

Life-changing events rarely happen in quiet Hollyhill,
Kentucky, and when they do, they are few and far
between. But for young Jocie Brooke and her family,
they happen all at once during the humid summer of
1964. Though on the surface things are just fine, it
seems like everyone in Jocie's life has something
they're not saying, something they're hiding from her--
and from themselves. As Jocie digs into her family's
past, she stirs up a whirlwind of discoveries. Will she
find the answers everyone so desperately needs? Or
will her questions lead to truths better left hidden?

Combining unforgettable characters, true-to-life
struggles, and the perfect dose of humor and nostalgia,
this riveting story from bestselling author Ann Gabhart
explores the very essence of new life and love.

Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and
vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our
music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-
based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our
authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance
Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &
live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity
of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,
proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-
Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry
After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to
find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to
serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His
church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of
Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks
a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other
words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change
your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical
marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah
56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

Ordinary Boldness
Acts 4:13
Brad Seevers preaching

How Can I Respond Today?
At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all
issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear
concerning what a person must do to become a
Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.
Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.
Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord
of your life.
Be baptized (immersed) in water for the
forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy
Spirit into your life.
To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you
come forward during our commitment song at the
conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers
are welcome to become members at FACC by coming
forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior
Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you
complete a series of Curious classes to help you
better understand what you are committing to as a
member. If you would like to take a Curious class,
please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.
